How do you set address on Min Wash?

Yea what Sarge said.

I'm curious what you think of this unit. I was considering them for my wedding set-up but lost interest with all the comments about low output.

I have 2 Minwashes and 2 Minspots and like them very much.

Abbey,

I will assume you are just going to play with one Minwash fixture.

The default address for that will be D001. (page 13 of the manual).

You need to decide whether you want to operate it in 13 or 5 channel mode.

Instructions copied from page 12 below:

TO SET THE DMX CHANNEL CONFIGURATION:
1) Press the Mode button until it shows or 13CH or 5CH
2) Use the Up/Down buttons to set to the desired inversion, press enter to confirm.

Page 13 will give you the Channel/Values/Functions for 13 Channel Mode.

Page 14 will give you the Channel/Values/Functions for 5 Channel Mode.

Hook up your fixture to the DMX controller.

Here's an example:

In 13 Channel mode, channel 1 will control the pan from 0 to 540 degrees by sliding the channel 1 slider from 0-255.

Wade,

I bought these from Ben after viewing them in Indy at a Convention. They were mounted on the truss above my head. From 10-15 feet away, the light was blinding. Is it as bright as a 250w fixture? NO!

At my Christmas party, I was at the back of the room facing my setup. When the fixtures rotated and caught my eye, it was still bright. I think a big misconception is that WE need to see what it looks like on the floor in front of us. I care more about what it looks like to the client and their guests.

I am mostly a wedding DJ and the output is enough to create the tasteful mood for my clients.

Keith he says his min wash doesnt have any dips. Im curious where he may have purchased them. Also your point of the misconception is sort of right however if we are pointing it on the ground or around the crowd thats the area we want the fx to take place. We can shine flashlights in there eyes if they are looking to our t stands or truss they will likely see the same bright light flashing in their face no matter the fixture. The pattern on the floor and the walls and throughout the crowd are what I look for. Many lighting manufaturer demos show them fqashing in your face and in fact I want to see the patterns which cross the floor and I think thats what the crowd wants to see. Activity on the floor without a dancer attracts due to movement taking place on the floor subliminally.

These fixtures don't have dip switches and the manual doesn't tell you anywhere to set the fixture that way. It is all done through the LCD display menu as per Section 4, page 10 & 11.

Jon,

These lights are bright enough to be seen on the dance floor. I thought this thread is about a minWASH light that doesn't have any fx pattern. They are mood setters to me and shouldn't be blinding.

Sorry Keith I stand corrected was thinking of another fixture. I recall seeing these last yr and they are not overpowering by any means.

hiredpower: Thanks for your help!

I have gone through those pages again and still don't understand how to set an address.

The address I have set on my controller is "72". I need to know how to change the light to the same address?

Or am I thinking old school DMX?

{Edit}By default the starting address is channel 1.

You should see the D001 as soon as you turn the fixture on. Hit the "UP" botton until it reaches 72 and hit enter.

I haven't used a controller with mine since I am happy with the sound active-master slave mode. I can control the pan, tilt, and other parameters to my liking through the lcd menu before hand.

What is cool about it is that the MinWash sets a background color on a spot on the floor and the MinSpot puts it's pattern on top of the large wash area. They move in unison with each other throughout their pre-programmed macros.

I will try to hook mine up tonight with the controller and see if I am able to change the starting address in the manner I described above.

I can get it working on the default of "001", but since I have three other lights on my controller I have to set the address at the fourth one; being "72".

I have started with "001" and then pushed up and it does go to "72". Then I push enter and it locks in. However, with my controller address set at "72", the light doesn't react.

Thanks for your help!

I'll see what I can do "hands on" at home. I'll let you know what I find later tonight.

I got the MinWash working.

For some reason the channels on my light controller are not in sync with the light.

The first two channels on the controller do nothing for the light.

When I moved the third slider the light started working.

I've been playing with the light the last few days and it's just like the big ones.

It's going to be a great addition to my light show.

Thanks everyone for your help!

Abbey,

I had to reload my PC over the weekend and didn't get time to bust out the light.

What if you set your controller to CH 74 instead of 72? Will that enable control of the first two sliders?

OR

Do all the functions work, albeit starting with slider 3?
