Smallest Acceptable Event

On another thread regarding a site that handled mostly non-major events, some spoke of this as undesireable. This prompts me to ask the following, out of personal curiosity only. No need for a price or worth debate because:

Assuming that WHATEVER your base rate is will be paid, what is the smallest event that you will accept?

By smallest, I mean quantity of attendees and/or venues, like say, a small home? Large Home? Backyard?

Maybe the best way to ask might be: What WON'T you accept, even if your base rate is met?

Same here. If someone is paying the rate, I don't care how many people are there.

The smallest event I've ever done was for 12 people. They were expecting 25 and 12 showed up.

I will be doing a Junior High function every nine weeks for my local Junior High for only an hour. They are trying something new so the kids can be more interested in school. These parties will be every nine weeks for only the kids in Honor Roll and I think it is a great idea. I think there will be about 250 students and she said they are thinking about a Valentines Day party which I can do too.

If they pay the required fee, I'm there. It's nice when you have a good sized crowd, but we can't always get what we want.

Ok, so what I'm getting here is all that happy hors**t about a lack of weddings and large events was just that? BTW- I too will play for the pay- but then I didn't say anything about the big events. If they offer me at least my base rate I'm in.

I did a graduation this past summer for only 15 people, I've done Weddings for 30.

House parties I'm not doing much anymore unless I know for certain where it's.

Weddings? As long as they pay me my rates, I don't care if no one shows.
Private parties -> I usually don't do them to begin with, but again - show me the $$$

I usually do not price break on small events, stick to my guns, but on larger events with a lot more people I may be happy to sway $50-$100 or so it all depends. Most usually do not balk at the price.

For the last 3 posters: Money is not the issue. I stipulated that your base rate WOULD be paid...


SirDJ: You gave me the answer I've been waiting for.. If your base rate is met, why would you turn down a house party, but do a venue? Please understand that I'm not arguing here. I really just wish to know the reason. Is it just comfort level, or is something else involved?
