Problem Opening a Folder.

I have a question, recently I had my desktop computer re-formatted. The old "C" drive is now labeled as F. The newly installed drive is now the operating "C" drive. In the past I used to log on using a password. The problem is the "My documents" folder on the old "C" drive can no longer be opened. When I try to open it, it says "Access denied". It will also not allow me to copy, move or delete it. Apparently all my old user files and folders are still password protected
I use windows XP Pro as my operating system. How do I go about opening it?
 
Yer supposed to copy (backup) that stuff, before you do that sort of thing... ;)


You can try changing ownership and/or access rights to the folder, or it might work if you just log in as you did in the past...

Or, if the now F drive still has the OS on it, you should be able to boot onto that drive...

It won't allow me to do squat! Nada! I don't want to mess with the old OS because that is what caused my troubles in the first case. There must be some way..........
 
Did you remember to add your login to the administrators group? Right click on my computer, manage, local users & groups, groups, administrators, add, add your login. You should now have all access to all drives.

If not - right click on F:\my documents, properties, security tab, add, add the administrators group (which your login is a member of), make sure that group has full control rights to the directory.
