Matt: I have my hearing checked with my annual physical because of the business I'm in. If there is a potential injurious part of ones profession, it'd be a smart thing to test frequently, don't you agree?

Pleased to report I'm 20-20.

Are you talking deep bass or over-amplified kiddie bass, the kind of back-seat-of-a-Honda Accord, mine is bigger than yours bass? I hear the difference, but more importantly, understand the application, event, and environment where more or less is needed based on audience needs, not other DJs.

Colleagues: I appreciate your wonderful comments of support in this decision. I haven't died yet but retirement maybe?? Hmmmm.

Like you said, it frees you to make unbiased opinions w/o having Bose looking over your shoulder.

As to my bass comment, the 30 hz thump of a B-52 ACT-18 is the kind of bass I'm talking about. Not too overdone, with the control at "12 o'clock or 1 o'clock".

And, the JBL tops are what people primarily hear. Getting lots of compliments for my Eon 10's. They are tiny but super accurate in small rooms. Best of all, zero feedback from microphones! (same as Bose sticks, IMO)

Having a single 18 is reassuring to my customers. They know I mean business, and it doesn't have to sound like a HS dance!
 
Matt: How many customers of yours have, without provocation or prompting, said, pointing at your single 18, that you mean business as opposed to those who looked at it, then where they we're seated in relationship to your set up, either sighed or shrugged in distraught resigning themselves to ringing ears or residual thump related headaches before night's end?

That's the looks I got bringing in huge bass bins and subs, not matter whose brand. The bigger the box, the bigger the cringe. Thank goodness those days have been long gone.

All this and that being said, if you are making money, your clients are thrilled, your reputation continues to soar, and your next dilemma is where to invest your millions, what does it matter what anybody thinks about your tool choices, or mine?
 
Let's not de-rail the Cap "Love-Fest" over everybody's "tools".... because nobody uses their tool better then me so it would be worthless to start that argument.
