B/G First Dance and Lights?

Any light that throws out a pattern is going to cause a discoloration spot on the Brides Dress that can't be helped being caught by the Video or Snap Shot of that moment.

Food for thought for any DJ that turns on his lights while the B/G are doing their first dance.

We aim the Vue 3 at the ceiling if the bride wants a lighting effect during the dances.

1. If there is room, a mirror ball with colored spots.

2. Oceana.

3. Nothing.

Really depends on the room, the client and what I feel like...:sqwink:

Agree with #2 - I use a Wave myself, but thats the same as the Oceana. Of course, only when appropriate, based on B&G, natural lighting, etc.

It was looking at the picture of the B/G doing their first Dance in the Request Line thread the Worst DJ that prompted me to ask this question. The DJ was using Par Cans and you could see Red Spots on the Brides Dress in the pictures.

I would think that any light that changes the color of the Brides Dress or puts a color on it that will show in the pictures during the B/G First Dance would be Taboo.

I know that some Brides might get excited about Lights but they don't think it all the way through how it will effect their pictures for those special moments.

On a similar note Cesar I strongly discourage Brides from doing cake before first dances. A lot of brides have asked down here to do cake right after dinner as desert and use first dances to "kick off the party" I worry about food stains and cake stains on their dresses.

I have 4 Acrobats in my trussing. Two of them project a white cross or X slowly revolving around the room, the other two Acrobats project a white O going in the opposite direction. Thus, you get X & O's.

I also love to hear the "ahhhhhhhs" that it gets

usually if I got the DMX moving heads there... having them on the B&G, dimmed in white or a star gobo moving around them on the floor, otherwise an H2O effect looks decent too...
It really depends on when we have the first dance... some have it right after the grand entrance before dinner, others wait til dinner and speeches are over... I will get the lights going during the first dance more frequently if it is after supper..

I usually drop in some blue par can lighting and many photographers have commented that they enjoy the affect that it adds to the photos and they can adjust some things back at the studio that make them really look super nice. (I don't know I'm not a photographer)

Does anyone turn on their DJ Lights on the Dance Floor when the B/G are doing their first Dance. If you do what is the reason behind it?

this basicly shouldnt be asked by a Dj...
the photographer/videographer are the ones that need the lights untill at least 1/2 of the first song is over, but I have been able to show some lights going on while filming for them which helps with effects.

you just have to know how and when to do this as being a Videographer as well over the years you learn how......

I have two Acrobats, I'll have to try that sometime. Thanks
