Very long day, Wedding ceremony and Reception 071908

Been a long day, 2 hour drive this morning to a Wedding ceremony and Reception. Left home about 9:30am, to setup for a 2:00pm ceremony, 3:00pm - 8:00pm reception. The ceremony and reception was in an old American Legion building in Corinth , MS. These were by far the best clients to work with that I have ever had. Very responsive on planning phone calls and emails. Just super nice people. I felt sorry for them at the rceremony and reception, they had planned for about 125-150 people, only about 45 showed up. All the tables and chairs setup, all the extra food. I did get to bring home a whole cooler of ribs though. This was a blue jeans and white shirt wedding, very relaxed and laid-back.

and since it was a low ceiling I also grabbed the cheap starlight laser, but time of day and light coming in the room from a glass door, hurt it some.

I had several LED par cans spread around the room in Red and Blue.

Also this was the first time using my newly modified facade. It is an Odessey facade, I added a 42" center center for a total width of 102". This extra width puts the Bose L1s just over 6 ft apart which is the minimum distance to get the acoustic doubling from the L1s. It comes apart into 3 sections. I also cut out the bottom edges to recess the L1 bases into it. This hides all the wires very nice. Also cut some aluminum U sections to cover the top and bottom edges.

Ouch.

Gotta feel for the couple. That ceremony pic is pathetic - all of the empty chairs and the majority of folks in attendance were in the bridal party. That is horrible. Did they seem to know where all of their guests were?

They had no idea, they said many has RSVP'd that they would be there. The groom said there was some kind of family fued going on, so that might have kept some of the family away, but the largest group missing were friends of the B&G.

Nice Clean looking setup there my friend. Looking at the first photo (Frontal view) I have one suggestion. If you are going to set up like this again. Spread those speakers out. I'd put the L1s on the outside of the tripods and the bass modules on the outside of the L1s or at least just on the inside of the L1s (after you spread them). You may be surprised of the result. The sound waves would not be so congested/clashing with each other and your gear won't look so crammed in! The greater the spread the better the fill.
 
The bass bins sound best when clustered together.

Funny, I got in after 2am last night from my gig and was going to post about my long day outside in the heat (ceremony & reception) with various issues. Then I started reading this thread and actually feel asleep at my computer (not because of content...just so damn tired).

You may have me beat on time, but I had more equipment/venue issues. Maybe I'll post about later, I'm on my handheld killing time while shopping.
 
Thanks, Mike. That's a sweet, clean presentation. I like it. :)

Ya gotta love the Legion and VFW weddings. That was a big part of my market back in the old days. Heck, the DJ company was the biggest expense. This one is much nicer than many I've seen.

It is sad about the guest turnout. I'm guessing a lot of feelings were hurt all around. To vest all that money, time and effort only to have a fraction of the invited guests show must have been a blow to the B&G. My heart goes out to them.

The L1's are just over 6ft apart, the total facade width is 102" or 8 1/2' wide. I made it this wide just for the 6' a part for the acoustic doubling of the L1s
