What to buy as a backup player?

So I want to buy a Dual Cd player/mixer that is a single unit that has XLR outputs fro my Mackie's. I want this as a back up unit. So something that is dependable.

Any reconmendations?

I wanted to get the Numark CDMIX 2 but it had some really bad reviews.

I dont think its top of the line first line gear but I used it as my primary for almost four yrs without a glitch I used the CD Mix 2 and still use it as my backup, ceremonys and for any effort where I am to be setup in two rooms simultaneously. Its not near the rig I have now as Im strictly top of the line DJ Denon gear.
 
I never used a CD Mix till Papa's BBQ a few months back. I actually liked the unit.

Hmmm, CD Mix 3 does MP3? I might actually take a look at that as a back up for me as well.

Mine has done about 40 events with no problems... I actually like it.... I will be upgrading it though, as it does have some noise.... and I want better for my Bose....
 
I never understand the mentality that thinks a Back Up system shouldn't be exactly like or better then the primary system.

I have a CD Mix 2 and it is used every weekend for the last year still going strong.
 
Be warned:

I had a cdmix1 for a short time. I loved it until I found out that it has ZERO shock memory, which I found stunning and disappointing. I returned it.

Later, I bought a cdmix2, which I loved until I found difficulty playing cdrs in one side of the unit. Eventually, I sold it.

I still have a ProdigyFX, and have nothing to complain about, except that I'm not using it, and it sits in its' case. This one I'm selling now. If you're interested in it, PM me. It will easily be under the 4 digit price range.

Oh great. You wouldn't touch our Pioneer rig when you were here. What makes Papa special? ;)

Chas, I'd listen to Ben. He knows his equipment. There's a lot of AA gear out there in the trenches and I haven't heard any complaints about it thus far.

Most of their Dual CD units have been solid but somehow AA doesnt come up often when it comes to CD decks. The only slip was the OEM CDJ types that were internally similar to the Stanton C3XX series. The Stantons had major issues as did the AA units. These new AA all in one units seem to have taken parts from their existing Dual CD units that have been reliable for the most part.
 
Yes, I have heard of the noise problems and one side not being able to play CDRs on the Numark CDMIX 1 and 2. I too have no room for malfunction in my business. Especially when I do weddings.

I think I might go with the AA CK-800. I was looking for something under $500 so I think this one could be it!
 
Ben will take care of you and his staff is a wealth of knowledge surpassing the price you pay. I have personally witnessed the care of NLFX and its consistantly awesome sevice if you spend 5 dollars or 5 thousand (and anything in between and above.).
