This was the first time of many first times that I've been at a new venue for a wedding.

I used the Sprint Navigation system built in my Mogul phone. The name of the venue was The Greencroft Meeting & Catering. I arrived at my destination but all I could find was a building that contained a bank and was named Greencroft Senior Center.... hmmmmm

So, I started to nose around and looking through the window I see that it is decorated and what not and as I near the automated doors they opened so I went in and took a look around. Nobody was there and the lights were out but it certainly looked setup for a wedding reception. So this had to be the right place. But, a Senior Center???? Yup.

I arrived at about 2pm so nobody was there initially and I got started setting up... meanwhile a security guard for the complex popped in to see what I was doing and turned some lights on for me... but, by then I was just taping down wires.

Guests started to arrive around 5pm and we start playing music (play list coming soon) and welcoming them.

About 5:30ish the wedding party and the B&G arrive and we get them lined up to introduce them... I'm informed that her mother's name, Ginny, is pronounced GIN-ney, as in Gin and Tonic... guess how I pronounced it? Yup Ginny.... I felt bad but geez you should have seen the last name...

They got a good laugh, apparently her name and their last name get murdered all the time and they were very good natured about it. Whew....

So we are going along just fine the best man comes up and informs me that he is to give the blessing... I didn't even know that someone would be giving a blessing as it was never discussed... but fine.

We get going with dinner and then do the toasts.... yada yada yada nothing unusual here... We do the cake cutting.... blah blah blah.... play some music to kill a bit of time while folks get some cake, then we head into the special dances.

1st dance went fine... F/D Dance went fine... the bride made a surprise special speech and invited her parents to dance to the song they danced to at their wedding. This was a very special moment and brought a tear to her parents eyes as they dance solo... then it was on to the wedding party dance... we got the entire wedding party out dancing and then about half way into it we invited the rest of the guests to join in....

In my excitement at the end of the wedding party dance I goofed the order of events.... I started off with my routine for the garter removal and toss.... "We need all the single women and a chair...." blah blah... a what? OMG I just started the garter removal and asked the single women????? er I goofed and corrected myself by asking for the single men and went with the garter first.... then went to the bouquet toss... I got a quizzical look from both the bride and the photographer as you can imagine... but alls well that ends well and I apologized to the bride for my error... and she was ok.. no problem and smiled happily....

We then headed into the open dancing and we had people dancing most of the night.. while the bride and groom participated in the slow dances mostly they sat and watched their friends and family dance....

At about 8:30pm the B&G were ready to make their exit... they had not picked out a song to make their exit to but I found something that went very welll... what we did is kind of a reverse of a receiving line.... I had everyone form two lines on either sides of the exit and we had the B&G exit between them shaking hands and hugs..... which went off flawlessly .... I went out to see them off as well... and got a "Thank You" from the bride through the window and even though I couldn't hear it.... the look on her face told me she was extremely thankful and had appreciated everything we had done for her....

We went back inside and partied for about another half hour.... wrapped things up by 9pm and even got a tip from the FOB.... who had by the way called me the night before worried that I was one of "those" DJs that played music that had explicit language in it..... when you see my playlist you'll see he had nothing to worry about.

I took about 127 photos so as soon as I sort through them I'll post a few...

Looks like a fun crowd.

I have practiced a couple of names over and over , written them out phonetically and still pronounced them wrong too.

They were fun.... in the last couple of photos I had them doing the train but when I started playing C'mon and Ride The Train - Quad City DJs I got some weird looks until they figured out what it was they were suppose to do.... LOL

As soon as I get the show PC setup I'll post a play list

Nice job,,, it's funny sometimes when a "train" or "conga line" starts up and so you throw on the song and they all stop doing it! LOL

Been there, mixed that, bought the t-shirt! LOL
