Has anyone ever done this by themself? My better half's ipod battery died today and I see that i can buy a battery for about 15$ shipped. If you have done this yourself let me know how it went....

Its very straight forward once you crack open the shell. Theres alot of online guides and youtube videos about it.

I replaced one once in an iPod I was going to sell on eBay. But the person who bought it still had problems with the battery.
It's kind of fun as a "do-it-yourself" project and cool to see how the iPod is put together.
Personally I think the best options are replace the battery yourself or buy a new iPod...having Apple replace the battery is not worth it for what they charge.

You can buy anything on eBay. If Americans want it, some sweatshop in China is making it...
Search google or eBay, most of the companies selling them make batteries and the kits to install them for every iPod back to the very first ones...
