All I can say is........................SWEET what Ive been waiting for since the imitations rolled out earlier. Oh and Silvio you are welcome here anytime, please stop in regular we are the busiest sight with true members posting daily. Call or pm me for detailed info to back my claim.

I think that looks like a great product? So the software can be used w/ or w/o the hardware and vice versa? Kinda redundancy, i like!

That is correct.
The required database can be made from the free PC software or the HD2500 directly. Drag & Drop by item or Folder is also possible to the HD2500.

The 40 gig HD is too small.

.

No problem...hook up your Own preferred size via USB.
Your media will "always" exceed whatever "expensive" internal drive we would include, so USB is your smart alternative to grow as your media grows....Plug & Play

40GB + (4) 500GB USB drives would do the trick no?

True, but I don't want to. You must admit, it was kind of silly to put such small storage on a professional device. An ipod has more storage.

Then hook up your iPod...lol
Yes, you can do that too.

But seriously, the other competitors with upcoming similar technology DON’T offer an internal drive…its USB only, so were back to where I started from by using your own external preferred size USB drive. The Denon Advantage is that even with 40GB you can store thousands of your “core” party favorites and have them available at power up as opposed to solely running “external” USB devices.

It’s also a fail safe stand alone redundant system:
>Internal Drive
>External Drives
>D4500/D4000 CD/MP3 drive unit (option)

All available by switching the “source” on either deck.

Is is possible that you can swap out the internal HD for a larger one?

Is is possible that you can swap out the internal HD for a larger one?

Yes, but only after the 1-year warranty is up.
I'm sure you can understand that we can only warranty the drive that "we" included, approved and tested for various conditions to meet our high standards.

SuWEEEETTTT. I have three externals equaling 900 gig and once the Denon warranty is expired I will drop a 500 gig in this beast and supercharge it.

The problem is that those size hard drives are getting more expensive. Anything above 40 gigs and the cost would be over $1000, which is not what DENON wanted, from what I understand.

You can buy the small external cases and buy the small hard drives--they cost more, but are much more portable.

I know 40 gigs may not seem like enough, but there are cost reasons why it wasn't done.

Is this what you were asking?

Simply carry around two external drives with your size of storage, one as an active, and the other as a backup... I wouldn't have it any other way. Redundancy my friends, Redundancy,

if there was a similar product of similiar quality at a similar price that was offering a much bigger HD, i would say 40g is too small. But since the only other ones i've heard of coming down the pike does not have any, i'd say 40g is better, no?

$0 gigs is more than enough for your essentials.....You might carry 120 gigs worth of music....realistically how much of that is stuff you might never play.....

I would load the essentials on the onboard drive and use external. when the warranty is up swap out the drive.....
I can't wait to see the acual interaction with the software....
