My New Bose and some Event Photos....

There is no comparison between hearing the Bose in a music store showroom and at an actual event. I strongly urge you to look until you find someone using one and experience it for yourself. I'm not saying it was the best thing I've ever heard, but it was much better than what I originally thought it was based on hearing it at Guitarcenter and it sounded good.
You need to hear it for yourself and make your own judgment.
My fascination with it is based on wanting to carry and lift as little as necessary. I'm no spring chicken. It's damn hot here in Florida in the summer and you sweat just standing around. I really don't want to tote heavy, bulky equipment.

Yes it's "all in one". I design and build all of our systems. We just wheel it in, plug it in, plug in the speakers and we're ready to rock.

Just got finished a week-long run of using the Bose with a local middle school - 1 L1 & 1 B1 per-side. Setup was for the middle school's musical production of "Calamity Jane". During sound checks which were early in the week, I compared the existing house system which was an overhead 2-speaker array which was at middle of the house. With vs without was a BIG difference.
I set one system up per-side of the stage & patched into the house system. Full-sound was not a problem. I didn't even need to turn the gain up on the Power Stands at all! Now, unfortunately, the piano player (an adult 'professional musician') didn't exactly like the fact that the speaker was only 3-4' from her ear. She ended up wearing headphones for the Fri & Sat. night shows. But it wasn't that it was crappy sound. She told me that she went from "Not being able to hear the actors singing" during the practices before I showed up with the additional sound reinforcement (via the house system alone) to hearing EVERYTHING!

Rob; I'm right there with ya. Got to see and hear the Bose at this months NJDJN meeting and was very impressed. Everyone I have spoken to about it says you can easily do up to 150 with one system, however two does tremendously improve the sound (and looks better). I will probably also be ordering a single system to start, hopefully very soon.

The most I've had in a room at one time was just over 600. I had two stick and 4 B1's. I didn't get any complaints and the dance floor was packed all night. I will very rarely only use just one. I have both, they are packed together so it's easier for me to use both even in small rooms.

Just a note...if I am not mistaken, you have your bins by the towers...if you could get your bins together closer, within a few inches rather than feet, it will increase the bass response by driving more air from a central location. Bass frequencies are non directional anyway, so consider either moving them all to the center or putting them together on one side and you should find your bass response increase. This was taught to me by Cap hisself!

Thank You Harry & all others that responded. Harry, I agree with you about the placement of the B1's, however, I just don't like the way they look "in front" of the DJ Booth. So, call it a small sacrifice in bass response for "aesthetics".
OZ, When I first started building booths, some 20 years ago, I was able to buy it at my local home depot (in the indoor / outdoor carpet aisle, in 12 ft widths). After awhile I found it in catalog's for sound equipment and ordered it by the roll in 4 ft and 6 ft widths. I bought the last roll about 3 years ago from a company called The Wholesale House. They deal mostly in Car Stereo / Speaker Boxes and the like. I purchased a 100ft roll. I'm sure you can find a distributer somewhere online that will sell it by the linear foot for smaller applications.
A note about the BLACK..... It show's everything !! Dust, dog hair, any foreign objects, especially every white flake known to man. The Dark Gray color is much more forgiving.

I've used the 1.2 configuration for a number of events without any real problems. This includes events up to about 200 people.
The thing to understand is the limits of that set up.... just as you would expect of any setup.
And keep in mind this is for weddings. For some events the bose doesn't have enough bottom end and you need to add traditional subs. For really large groups you need to get the Bose up a couple feet in the air to reach the back of the room since the sound is 'swallowed' up with the people. I experienced this with a school dance I helped out with a while back. Moving the L1 on top of the 18" folded horn subs fixed the problem though.
Alan being a cabinet maker by trad in the past I too have built coffins etc and yours is very well constructed. Might I suggest to allow what Harry mentioned. If you slotted the front panel and either sank the bins in the front of the cabinet or slotted the unit so the subs could sit under like a cove effect I think that would adjust the look you dont like having them out front. Having the full effect of coupling is an improvement you can easily attain and perhaps live with implementing the altered look.
