Is Dynacord expensive?

I can't prove the value either. I do not know anyone that has owned a system. I like to personally see how it holds up after 1, 3, and 5 years.

The speakers are efficent that is what scares me. The SPL produced from the wattage provided is insane. It scares me to the fact that I would expect blown voice coils.

The amount of sound coming from the power sub 315 and the 2 tops. Was agrubally more than my 2 Turbo 12" and 2 Turbo 18".

I would honestly consider purchase of a setup, it's just not possible for me at this time.

Not to knock Ben, but I heard Guitar Center is starting to carry Dynacord. I'm expecting to see them drive down the price.

Thanks Cam! The best news is that you WON'T have blown voice coils... the system has active voice coil tracking circuitry that monitors the performance of each voice coil and actively adjusts the system to protect the voice coil while ensuring maximum output. Again, there are reasons it costs what it does... it's simply amazing in so many ways. Sound quality is just one of them (albiet an important one). We all know that Turbosound is excellent stuff, and I think your assesment is correct. Dynacord will outperform it.

As for Guitar Center... I have not heard that, but I doubt it will drive down the cost frankly. Price is not what sells Dynacord and they (along with the other EV brands) are owned by Bosch (who is simply NOT scared of Guitar Center or anybody else for that matter. Having Home Depot carry Bosch tools didn't drive down the price of their contractor grade stuff). The other important factor here is that Dynacord is made in Germany, so the value of the Euro/Dollar affects the price more than Guitar Center can. GC is a big fish in a very small pond (ie: our industry). There are over 200 companies in the US that have more revenue than our entire industry worldwide does.

As for system reliability... again.. you're paying for engineering. They have a 3 year warranty that basically covers EVERYTHING as long as you use Dynacord components (ie: power it with DC amps if it is a passive rig), in the case of the D-Lite... it's self powered, so that goes without saying. They guarantee top level performance for 3 years... likely it will last you much, much, much longer with basic care. Dynacord Cobra rigs are used daily by tour and production in very harsh conditions, as are Dynacord systems in clubs. Club Rain, Moon Bar, the Playboy club and for that matter many of the bigger clubs use Dynacord.

Summing up what you are saying. It's pretty hard to burn up a voice coil.
If I would blow a Dynacord sub in the 3 years they would replace it?

How does the passive stuff compare to the powered?

The GC thing is: they carry it. Select stores may choose to stock certain items based on being in a certain % of Pro Audio sales. I stopped in my local store the other day and there were boxes there, it was a custom order for a customer. The Pro Audio manager said they are selling it but not stocking.

Cam - Guitar Center is NOT an active Dynacord dealer, nor are there any plans for them to be at this time. However, it is possible they took some boxes in on trade or bought them from a distributor somewhere.

Thanks Mike for clearing that up we dont want no GC deals. I will buy from Ben and NLFX exclusive. Mike would want it no other way from our great members here at ODJT.

and buy some of your stuff for being such a Gracious Host for wall crumbling and Ceiling dropping Bass?
 
Seems to me that if you have to ask about replacing blown components, you're planning on driving the speakers past their design limits.

Yes, but powered speakers should be designed so that they are impossble to blow up.

as, ben explained to me me in a earlier post there is a voice coil management system in the dynacord so that you cant burn up the voice coil.


As for the GC thing. The pro audio manager at the store close to my house told me he just sold someone a D-lite system. When were were bs-ing about me buying new speakers I was looking at QSC he said thet they only thing he would reccomend other than them would be Dynacord. Seems odd the pro audio manager would be pushing something they do not sell.

I agree...that is odd, but what can I say? They are not a Dynacord dealer.
