Yup... Steve and I have been preaching this for years. :)

Every cable or cord has a natural helix. Winding and storing cable with the helix in mind extends cable life and saves setup time.

it won't wear them out per se, but it could make the "clips" that lock them together looser

I use cable cuffs too...........and never put them around your wrist, I did and it got stuck............I had to have a friend chop it off with a hack saw
 
jt... I'm a hybrid when it comes to locking the connector, to each their own though. I would think closing it "could" potentially keep dirt and other bad stuff outta the cables and holes.

I do use Velcro ties, and also lanyard which works however is less expensive and more cumbersome to use. but I can roll with stuff.

[edit] For what its worth, those connectors aren't too too expensive, just snap the ends off and re-soder.
 
I don't do the cuffs anymore. They leave bruises. Padded cuffs ain't bad, though.

Oh... we're talking about stowing cables. ;)

Good point about the ends getting dirty. I store all my cables in a closed hard case. Not to say they won't get dirty, but I just don't wan't to wear em out....
