This term is thrown around a lot in DJ circles. "Small Footprint"! What do you consider to be a small footprint as it relates to the setup area and total Floorspace (Including Standing area). Again this is in reference to actual space being used by you and or your gear?

Sub(s) With/Without Tops attached? =
Table size? =
Rolling or Stationary Racks X ? =
Other (Table for CDs/Controllers etc) =
Lighting Stands/Trusses/Light Bridge etc? =
Other? =

Total Sq. Ft.? =
 
Smallest footprint for equipment (minus speakers/lights) is 24"x24" (the size of my large rolling mixer rack). For karaoke, that's all that I can fit, so everything goes into it or it doesn't come. 2 speakers are given and they take up pretty much the same space for everyone, unless you place subs separately (about 3x3 on the floor) or hang them. Lights are space dependent. So small footprint = 4 ft2 + 9 ft2 + 9 ft2 = 22 ft2 plus the waterbag known as me.
 
Normal setup with two tops and a sub - 10' wide by 7' deep. No lights.

Include the lights, add another 3to 4 feet to the width.

Large setup - 14 foot wide swath from toe to toe of each light truss tripod stand. Maybe add 6 inches onto each side of the light truss for speaker stands, since speakers are normally right beside the truss. Still no more than 7 feet deep.

I'm not math savvy, Doc, so the square footage is something someone else would have to tell you.
 
Funny you should mention this. I have mixer/amp in a DJ capsule and put subs under the table so a 6-footer is more than enough. This weekend, however, I got to use my new Viewsonic 7383 projector. In less than a 4-ft throw it filled an 84" wide screen. That means I've only gotta have about 2' between my table and the wall. A substantial decrease for me.

I thought 900 sq ft was small only in Texas ... :eek:
 
I typically use a L1 m2 and 2 bass units, laptop, T1 mixer, and wireless mic receiver on a small table. lights are attached to the L1 or on the table.

that's it.

For small events, just a compact. Did a 60 person birthday party yesterday with just a compact, mic, and laptop. Not even enough to use my cart.

I have everything in one rack, which sits on a table.
so it depends on the size of the table.
as for the lighting rig (on a tripod) it's only 3 feet wide
so it's really no bigger than the width of the tripod legs.
as for the speakers...well...if yer talking "spread"...
you'll have to figure that one out on your own, Canute.
 
Wow Scott...that's almost....too small!

I thought I had a small footprint, but you got me beat, although without a facade, that may look a little...ummm...spartan?

You do not calculate spread when determining YOUR space. We are talking gear footprint plain and simple.
 
Tripods X ? = Not Used.
Subs Without Tops attached? = 2' x 2" x2 = 8sq ft
Table size? = Not Used
Rolling or Stationary Racks X 2 and standing space = 21" x 20' deep x 2 = 8 sq ft
Other (Table for CDs/Controllers etc) = Not Used
Lighting Stands = x2 90Degreed at back of each sub = 1' x 1' x 2 = 2 sq ft'
Other? = N/A

Process Rack, Console, 2 Subs & 2 Lighting stands with speakers and lights on top. Total Sq. Ft.? = 18sq ft.

I use a facade... A table top onr
 
My smallest footprint? About 3 feet by 3 feet. (maybe 3 and a half) IDJNow "X" stand, Custom made "Suitcase" with Laptop, Battleboard, Sennhieser wireless HH, Multi output video converter and powerstrip and a BOSE L-1 and 1 or 2 B-1's sitting on the Powerstand.
