Has anyone ever considered that his "Act" was requested by the Client? Maybe they saw him do this elsewhere and thought it might be fun! Get ALL the facts first gentlemen before casting judgement. Just saying!
BTW they dance like that in Texas....when they shoot at yer feet!
I dunno .. looks like the folks off to the side aren't even watching ... I'm thinking he did it more than once.
Here is a "Pro", he is speaking for himself so one can feel free to critique this guy. From the beginning he had a bad start using the terminology "Duct Tape", he said it several times again. It is shiny so I do believe it is Duct Tape not Gaffer's Tape.
He however has a good spread of speakers and high up so thats good.
Can you see some pros and cons? There are many in each category. Nit pick away but also give credit when its due.

Yes, I agree. If you look at the bride and groom, they look like it was not planned since they are standing and not sitting for it. Apparently he just cleared the floor and started his performance. I think it was totally unprofessional and takes the shine from the bride & groom.
That is a good point. I've actually seen this video before and initially thought I was pretty good advice being conscientious of speakers, neatness, etc. Is there a reason for not using Duct tape, aside for the residue left behind?
Some venues prohibit it but will allow Gaffer's Tape. If all you have is Duct Tape and they prevent you from using it, what will you do?
My request i that for those who are so quick to post other person's video's/pics; kindly post a video of your performance so that we all can critique it
The adhesive in duct tape is designed to stick and stay stuck (it was designed to seal duct work). Putting it on a venue's floor, wall, door frame, etc. might cause damage. Gaffing tape is designed with an adhesive that pulls off without leaving anything behind. It's what's used in theaters.
I see what you mean, however, if you cannot see the humor in this... I don't know what to tell you. My intention for this was really to say to those Djs such as myself who sometimes question themselves and what they charge to stick to your guns... It takes one horrible experience for a client, who rather save some dollars, to come around and pay what you are worth. If you like to critique my work, please do... I have a dj drop which I posted on the forum as well as a photo on my website.
What makes you so sure that this DJ was more affordable than you? Also, we can go fetch plenty of examples of high priced DJs doing questionable things. If you're "questioning yourself", then it's YOU that has to deal with it. Finding fault in others to make yourself feel better isn't humorous. ...It's sad.
Be confident and satisfied with your own business and get by on your own merits.

It's ironic because you are finding fault with my post. I found this clip a little humorous, and wanted to share a laugh with you guys. At the same time, share a little advice with new Djs, such as myself. But I guess its like Djing, you can't make everyone happy

Of course I have to disagree on this part. That's how we all learn what not to do. Sorry, if I watch something and chuckle at it and say thanks goodness I never did anything like that, What is the problem.

The problem is that you don't know for sure that nobody liked it. You just can't see outside the black and white.
There's pretty much everyone's version of bad (slapping breasts) and then there's stuff like this (gray area). If Luciano Pavarotti posted a Nicki Minaj video as "what not to do", would it be valid to everyone?If you have to hunt down and exploit bad examples of what YOU don't ever want to do, then you already know. There's nothing to learn from it.
The real lessons (for me) here is that it has nothing to do with us and even less to do with "what you pay for".

My first reply was tongue-in-cheek. I take no exception to you finding it funny or cheesy, but I do to you suggesting that this is the kind of thing one will get when trying to find a lower price. Cheese is sold in all price ranges. Would you match what you do up against someone else doing the same thing for more money? I would..

And, doing it at a wedding (assuming that it was NOT requested by the client) is bad enough.

After all, I was searching "BAD WEDDING DJ" when I found it...
and found it uncomfortable to watch.
I was imagining it was me and how uncomfortable I'd feel at that moment.
