Anyone here have one of these? Is it as good as the specs say it is?

He's not exaggerating. I use to own the HPR181i's and compared it to the Yorkville. My HPR sounded pitifully anemic in comparison to the LS800P. I will say with both running flat (no EQ), the sound quality of the HPR was a lot better in my opinion. The York was annoyingly BoOMY! EQ'ing it is a must.I have the powered version one is way louder that two of my QSC HPR181i's ...
DJ Wes;516738 I hardly ever use two as it's just too much bass. Really said:How can you say that? Not all Weddings are limited to small rooms. How about a Wedding with 400 people wanting to party down? Don't tell me that one of those subs would be sufficient for that size crowd and space. If you are going to make suggestions then give an example of square footage and or size of audience.
For example, if I am doing a 400 people Gig I would want something like 2 JBL SRX 728s or 4 LS808 for subs and 4 sets of tops if I am running Two Way.
Houston, you need to try these subs. I did a wedding for 800 people with one (yes one) of these and it was PLENTY! It was on 'cruise' and thumped all night long. No need to collapse peoples lungs.
Wes, with all due respect, those people must have been seated listening to music. I do clubs here in Houston (Yeah I know the energy is different but it is still a close comparison when people are partying). I know of one particular club where we have about 400 people and 2 JBL SRX 728s (2 Double Subs = 4 x 18")are used. If we had more people we would need more firepower. If we were doing double that amount of people we would need 4 SRX 728s. Are you trying to tell me that one of your subs 18" is equal to or superior than 4 JBL SRX728s? I just don't buy it!Houston, you need to try these subs. I did a wedding for 800 people with one (yes one) of these and it was PLENTY! It was on 'cruise' and thumped all night long. That was a seated performance, a big difference. Also, if you are providing music for just one area and not cover the whole audience then that too will make sense. Here's some pics from an event I did back in 2005. I used two LS800P's. Now this was not a dance per say, but the subs were hitting hard non the less. There were over 1000 kids at this event.
I agree. But I also think 4 JBL SRX728's is completely unnecessary unless you are doing a full blown concert for a major touring act. To play pre-recorded music for dancing? No way. It's overkill for anything under a few thousand people.
