Windows Vista support ends next month; Windows XP support ends in July

Windows Vista support ends next month; Windows XP support ends in July
Windows XP and Windows Vista

Microsoft is ending support for Windows XP, Windows SP1, Windows XP SP2 on July 13, 2010. Support for Windows Vista without any service packs ends on April 13, 2010. Windows 2000 support ends on July 13, 2010 no matter what service packs are applied.

If you're using Windows XP, it's imperative that you download and install Service Pack 3 before July 13, 2010, or you will not get any further Windows updates and patches.

If you're using Windows Vista and have not yet installed Windows Vista Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2 - your support will end on April 13, 2010 - just over a month from now - if you don't install one of the available service packs for Windows Vista.

Please make sure you have the required service packs installed so that you will be able to continue to keep your Windows XP or Widnows Vista computer up-to-. Windows XP SP3 support ends in 2014. Windows Vista support is scheduled to end in 2013.

Sometimes they have to replace the motors too... I've seen a couple now towing new motors behind them... :sqwink:

I know we are over due to upgrade but I also have to think about some way to stop a roof leak that has seriously damaged the ceiling in the computer room... :sqfrown:

As long as you're running SP3 you will be okay for another 4 years. ;) At some point you do have to upgrade to take advantage of new technology. That being said if your happy with your computer and don't need any newer software there's really nothing to worry about for another few years.

We only have one machine running XP. We don't do anything with it except play fairly basic games, everything else is running Windows 7 or something else completely. I do find it odd that MS is ending Vista support before XP.

Depends on how much it leaks.... if it leaks less than ours does... OK... other wise we'll keep what we got for awhile...

It's running SP3 now... took this poor thing two and a half hours to do it... but it got er done...

its just another scheme to get everyone to upgrade, more $$$$$ to be made.soon we will be forced to upgrade again to windows 8 which has been in testing for a while now.

I will not buy anything that is not XP. I don't use the computer enough to have to worry about the new technology. I bought a laptop last year with Vista on it and took it back within a week because there were so many issues with it. If I have to buy used, I have no problem with that, at least I know it will be a system that works.

Funny thing.... a sale paper came in the mail one day last week. The store was advertising new Acer lappytops with XP.

Seems rather strange they'd be selling a new machine with an OS that won't be supported come July. :dontknow:

most times its back log overstock from a warehouse, they try to get rid of old inventory which is basically new this way.you can get some deals if you want stuff like what they have.

Rick thats not the point why I dont update its what the clients that come to me all the time with the basic problems with the software they paid really good money for that will not work on win7

they want to be use XP and thats it

I stayed with xp because it may be old but it works far better when its put thru its paces
not like win7 when I had to install client software that it wouldnt allow it to work

now a client that pays 1200 for the software isnt going to pay more money just to be on win7 when it wont work

I think some should look at the long overall picture not the short term
yes win7 may be good to a certain part and so is winxp

but I will support winxp as long as its around and if anyone wants to downgrade then I will change them in a flash

you stay with win7 i'll stay with xp

have a nice day!

I will be putting together 4 high end power machines in April and they will be running on XP PRO...
