For someone like me, a club DJ and Professional Remixer, the service is exactly what I need. It gives me a TON of new tracks on a weekly basis, plus I can go in and grab anything I might have missed. On top of that it offers all of the remixes, the clean, dirty, and instrumental versions, and a lot of times, the acapella. As a remixer, some of those tools are essential. As a club DJ, I love having a source I can trust, where I know they will have the song if I need it, and I have full access to it at a moments notice. The speeds are good, and you can use your own FTP client. I can go in and download 200 things at once if I want, and I can't do that with Amazon or iTunes.
Plus all the music is legal, and DRM free.
 
I have to admit, I don't think I will get $50 worth of use out of it every month. I may do the yearly plan, just for the top 40 and billboards, but the part that confuses me, and correct me if I am wrong, but if this music is legal (idjpool.com) why is it all encoded with iTunes? It seems odd that a label/producers/etc would be ripping their own music with iTunes.

iDJPool music is in mp3 format, not iTunes .aac format.
 
And as far as my review.. The "classics" availability is very limited. The top 40 and billboard 100 look good, but why would they not tag the genres? I don't mind that they don't take the albums, but I see no reason to leave the genre tags empty. I use the genre and year tags all the time. It will be a pain to have to tag all of the files manually. :(

Speed of downloading is fine. I am getting just over 1mb/s, which is good for my connection.

Yes, but the Mp3s are "Encoded by iTunes 10.4" (version varies based on file)
 
I just checked and you are correct. I can only assume they are either ripping the CDs (which is how many pools do it) or getting wav files and using iTunes to convert to mp3.
 
Ok, I just want to make sure I am not paying for and using illegal music.

I hope not .. they have been around for a long time and appear pretty legit. I do wish they would use tags better though.

That is my only real complaint at the moment. Seriously, why wouldn't they tag the 'genre'? :/

Some people like other programs to tag their songs, I don't! This is why I first make Genre Folders in Explorer on my Hard Drive. If I acquire a song(s) I place them in for example a temporary "Rock" Folder. Then I go to Tag Scanner and make sure the naming is correct, I then do that whole batch all at once naming it "Rock". The songs within are now ready to be transferred to my Music Library on my Hard Drive. I make sure that Traktor reads it the way I want then enter it into Traktor's Track Collection. Voila, all is done. You don't have to do them song by song!
 
The problem is that not all of the files(mp3s) are the same Genre. I'd still need to sort all of the files into different Genre folders.

...and the problem is? Make different temporary folders. I report on music and in return I am rewarded with free Promotional Downloads. Dirty, Clean, Remix (If available), Instrumental and Acapella. These songs usually fall into several categories. As I download each song they each go into the category I determine for each one.. When I am finished with all my reviews/downloads I then go about the task I described above. It is part of the business of DJing.
 
You and I disagree a bit. I 'expect' when I pay $50 a month for "VIP service" that the files will be high quality & be completely and correctly tagged.

Doesn't matter what happens when you rip, that would be up to the ripping software to help fill in the fields. When you BUY mp3s, there is a basic expectation that the basic fields would have been filled in and they are not. There are ways around it, and you can always add tags, but they should come with them standard.
 
And with iDJPool, there is no requirement to report on the files as there may be with other pool services.

To each his own. I would much rather customize mine. Even with Audio Grabber I do.
 
Yea .. but that has nothing to do with how the files arrive in the first place. You can always change the tags, but they should come with standard ones (like genre) already filled in if you're buying mp3s. They do from Amazon and most other places.

When I do buy from Amazon, I sometimes have to change the Tags. What they call Pop might be Hip hop. All in all, I do not see a problem either way. Never depended on any service to do my work for me. Something you have to remember, Amazon and ITunes major customers are NOT DJs, they are regular folk who don't care about Genres

But iDJPool.com is a professional music pool specifically targeting DJs, Radio Hosts, etc. I paid for thier premium account. Since I paid for the VIP package and they ARE targetting music professionals, the music should be properly tagged (even if the customer wants to change the tags later).
