I'll answer

in MY little world...I do not do packages.
I don't like to confuse clients with a million choices.
when you hire me, you get the same set-up as always...sound and lights.
the only thing they have to "choose" is how long they want me there.

I am not saying it's the only way to do it
But it's the way that works best for ME in MY area
 
Abby, following up on Mike's post here...we don't do packages either. Our clients get us for up to 6 hours, the sound system doesn't change; however, we do allow them to pick and choose from the lights we have.
 
DJ - Service only....no packages. Hourly rate with a 4 hour minimum.

Photography - Yes, but we keep it to 3 basic packages with the option to customize one for the client if the situation is right.

Photography & DJ Service Combo - Yes, for our Premium package.

Much like others, no "packages" here either. Just a 4hr base-rate and a set charge for each additional hour.

Sure, we'll "add stuff on" if the client wants to go there - projection package, full light truss, second/satellite sound system, etc. but those are "wants" and not "needs." (for most events)
