For a wedding, would this be over the top?

I wonder if they got it there in the invisible jet?

Do you mean teh color or just having a logo?
I like all the lighted facades out there. Color is totally depndent on wether it blends with the overall color scheme.
If you meant the Company Logo, then I would rather keep it blank. Just like how i prefer to not have a company sign.
If there is a way to have some kind of Gobo or Client initials/image, then that would be all I would consider to have on there since it adds a nice touch. If that was a Gobo or something similar, I dont think its too much.

It's a nice logo, but I don't feel it belongs at a wedding. It just reminds me of a more expensive version of the vinyl banner.

I hate lighted facades. I think they look tacky! (I mean no offense to anyone who uses them...just not my style at all.) As far as the logo is concerned, I think that's just as bad as putting up a banner at an event, especially at a wedding. It's tacky and there's no place for it.

I think it depends...

The logo itself, reminds me of the WWF (or whatever they call themselves). Didn't bother me though, when I first saw it.

Having it at a private event -- are you The Entertainment, or simply an entertainer... Two different things in my eye...

If you got hired because of your name, then flash all you want. If you got hired to provide nice background music and casual dancing in a penguin suit -- simple black facade will work.

Just my thoughts :)

No offense taken...BUT...sometimes, we have to look past what we might deem tacky and see what the current clients deem as one-cool-looking-party-set-up. ;)

Btw, I think this example is a bad one. The logo is entirely too large, in my opinion.

Okie Dokie Im more than glad to play. The logo is too much for the traditional parts of the wedding if lit up but if it is invisible with the lighting off during the formal dance portion and before, good beans. Most here know I have made mention to the same effect without a logo. Lights off during family dances, cocktail, dinner etc. It looks very pro and would be fine during party time. One other comment. I love the lighting as it doesnt look like a blob of crap light that the Pars emit. Even color across the material looks very nice and if color matched to the Brides colors a bonus. It is no more loud than a Truss full of club lights when its party time or my 4bar with a Acrobat.

If you put colored lighting or any lit decor at your station you are subliminally saying LOOK AT ME THE DJ. IF you are in fact running the lights and wanting them to see or notice you (obvious) then why not show who you are.

If you are using colors that blend, it should not be a problem. That particular logo, maybe not. Your company Logo AT ANY EVENT, tastefully done, Absolutely Yes! It is the best time to shine and have people remember you. You have a captive audience for a couple of hours who will see your logo over and over and probably remember you in time of need.
I don't see the Hotels and Venues hiding theirs! This is simply a self imposed DJ thing! Do your thing man! When Clients come up to you complaining that they don't like your signage, that will be the time to re-think the issue!

Canute I hear you and believe other than the traditional time we should shine and then for those important moments lurk in the background. IT is obvious with or without most will know we are setup there especially if we offer FOH setups. This is why I shrunk my footprint as well. Then when the hammer is down on Party Central I light up the place.

I have never had a Wedding Party send me home yet, because they did not like my gear or setup. I did my job quietly and was not competing with my client for attention. I cannot begin to tell you have many new gigs I picked up from people remembering both me and my performance at an event, private or otherwise. Its called Auditory and Visual remembrance by spaced recognition! You just have to do it tastefully! To go a bit further, I have had the Client actually introduce me right at the Event. I did not prompt this but it was highly appreciated!
Do you pull the labels/logos off your speakers and gear when you do Private Functions or Weddings?

I am sure the Bose boys wish their Bose Logo was bigger and highlighted by neon! :sqlaugh:

Canute you humor with your comment but seriously I have heard of the sticks being enhanced with uplighting no joke. A tasteful banner has been on my rigs start tofinish in the past. Liekly will be planting a permanent logo on my case in the yr ahead. Tastefully is the key. Allowing the client the spotlight during the traditional time is a must in my opinion. Party time I bring the party and am not in the corner. Nobody puts JTV in the corner at that point.
