Wireless Speaker Connectors

A soundman I ran into told me about his wireless speaker connections. The small transmitter is connected to your mixer (or mixing console) and there are mini receiver xlr plugs that connect to your powered speaker (or speakers).

This eliminates a lot of wires and sounds convenient. I haven't been able to find anything like this on the net. Does something like this exist or is he pulling my chain?

I'm thinking that an item like this would most likely be very popular among sound professionals. Anybody know?

plus you can use wireless body packs and wirelss receivers in reverse (body pack at mixer, receiver at speaker) .. or .. use a wireless IEM system (in ear monitor) with the bodypack at the speaker.

Problem with that Steve, is you have people like me -- who carry jammers. I can't knock out your cabling, unless I cut it.

So let's put an example on the table:

I like to hang out at Gully's -- if somebody near me starts talking on their cell, I activate the jammer. That also kills any freq in the house -- so you just lost your wireless speakers.

I would hope that in the venues one would set up in, that people carrying jammers to maliciously derail the music, would be few and very far between. I can't plan for everything, but I do have a reel with a couple of 100' XLR cables with me that I could use if needed.

I don't typically run wireless, because there is the potential for interference from normal sources (AC equipment, furnace blowers, bad ballasts, etc.) but the one time I used the wireless mic setup to run a remote speaker (to avoid running cables over doorways), I had no issues.

I also hope there aren't too many azzes that "jam" for fun.

I don't jam for fun -- I just hate sitting next to someone at a bar/restaurant who is babbling on their cell.

They make us smokers go outside -- might just as well apply that same policy to cell phone users.
 
I ran a wireless speaker last night with my Line 6 XDV75 system. Bodypack transmitter (1/4" TS - TA4F from the left 1/4" main out on my board into the transmitter). Receiver on top of remote powered speaker (XLR - XLR from receiver to speaker). Adjust speaker volume to taste and worked like a charm. Ran a second XDV75 mic for speeches.

So much easier than running 100' XLR cable and then taping that down. If you jam my wireless for grins than you're just being a ....

Did the same a couple of weeks ago to run a ceremony system remotely. Worked perfectly with my Line 6 XD-V30,

Depends on how you look at it...

I go down to the local bar, to have a beer or two, and watch the sunset. Then one asshole turns on his cell, and starts talking to his gal pal. Then the next one does. Next thing you know, you got 30 people around you babbling their butts off!

I do not like that -- it ruins my view of the sunset -- so I shut them down.

Go out in the parking lot if you want to talk on one of those toys.
 
I meant jamming my wireless audio signal to the remote speaker, not my cell phone.

Doesn't matter -- the jammers jam all freqs. So if I turn it on, everything from 0 to 3 Gig goes down.

I've shut down the cops here, from inside the house -- they have no clue.

I used to get paid a lot of money to do this sh_t -- but I blew it all. Fun ride though. :)
 
Wow Rick, you can be a grade A azzhole when you want to be. If you don't like people on cell phones, stay home. What if I went to a bar and said I don't like people talking to each other face to face, so I bust your lip to shut you up? Is that okay with you? Same difference. We live in a free country, if you don't like it, move to N. Korea. If I was at a bar and I caught you doing that, I'm afraid blood would be spilled and I'd make sure you didn't see it coming.
 
Now back to the original subject. I will research the Phonic unit first and then the vocopro. Believe it or not, I've had some good results with other vocopro wireless microphones. They hold up pretty well considering the price point. Thanks Steve.

Yes, I can be -- I cannot deny that.

I like my privacy. I also specialized in comm control in the Marine Corps, US Army, Coast Guard (pretty handy with an M-60 and RPGs as well).

I do not want to hear you folks talking on your phones in a bar -- talk to the people around you in person. Then when you go home, you can talk to your wife. I don't want to hear it. Put a couple bucks in the jukebox, or listen to the band, and have a good time.

That's what bars are for.

You go to a public bar, and expect PRIVACY???

And really, how are people to talking to each other, any less annoying (to you) than a person talking on a phone?
If anything, you get a break every now and then when the person on the phone is listening and NOT talking.
People having a conversation gives you NO moments of silence.
And what if you don't like the band? Or the song on the jukebox?

Whatever happened to phone booths...?

Most folks up here use speakerphones -- I don't need to listen to soccer mom' talking about their kids game, and I don't really want to know what groceries to pick up on the way home.

If people had courtesy, they would take their overpriced phone outside, and not blare it in my ear 3 feet away. How am I supposed to chat quietly with the hot bartender chick, when I have somebodies grocery list being shouting to me...?


If I don't like the band -- which is difficult for me, as I like most genres (with the exception of rap and hip hop) -- I'll just go somewhere else. The local bars here all have shutoff/reset buttons under the bar for the jukebox. If a few people complain, they reboot the whole thing clean. I set up a few of those -- they can even put in to autoplay mode.

I told you guys this is redneck territory...
