Windows Media Player For Ripping

Really? I like that idea. I have MP3+G Toolz, I just havn't really used it much. I tried it, but haven't used it in a while and forgot what it's really best for.

I have folders with 2 files per Karaoke track and it's kind of a pain in the butt. I'll have to play with that. Thanks for the tip. I ripped them to an MP3 and a CDG file for each track with audiogabber. Audiograbber also lets you rip to a .cdg or a .bin file instead of the CDG + MP3, but I'm not sure about those formats. I would eventually like to make some compilation disks with just some of the tracks that I want to perform that night. I may not have to do that because if using the PC and PCDJ works out I won't have to use disks at all. I'm just trying to have disks as a backup in case the computer is malfunctioning for some reason.

Definately keep your discs... if there is anyway to prove you purchased your library legally having those discs is a sure fire way... and as you stated if the computer goes tits up you have a backup contigency in place already to go.

BIN files are basically the same thing as the CDG except that CDG is more widely accepted for playback... think of the BIN file as a Binary representation of the Data file you ripped with the audio.... a CDG is basically a CD Graphics file... BIN files also tend to be larger in size.

My advice to you however instead of using Audiograbber to rip your karaoke checkout Power CDG Burner instead you'll get near perfect if not perfect .cdg files... http://www.powerkaraoke.com/src/prod_powercdgburner.php

Useing that program to rip my karaoke files I get graphic files that are clean and have no graphicall errors in them... I mean when you playback these no one will even be able to tell if you are using disc or mp3+g files it's that good.

And here's the best part... almost any CD-R drive will work...

EAC and Audiograbber are great at ripping mp3's but Power CDG Burner is, hands down, THE BEST at ripping karaoke. BTW it's great at burning back to CD-R as well.

Well, I think I'm going to order Power CDG burner. I've looked into it and I tried the demo. I will admit, the rips using audiograbber are less than satisfactory. Lots of graphic artifacts and some ugly looking lyrics from brand new disks. Unacceptable.

You'll be very happy you did.... I ripped my cdg set 4 times that's 300+ discs it wasn't until the 4th time that I discovered Power CDG Burner... that was the best $40 I've spent in a long time....

Out of those 300+ discs only 2 wouldn't rip with that program both were Sound Choice discs oddly enough...

Have you decided what you are going to host with when you do full karaoke shows...? I'd recomend AutOKdj because it handles rotations automatically and intelligently I might add.

I use Easy CDDA Extractor v11

find it here >> www.poikosoft.com <<

I use the Portable also :)

oh this is from the webite...
Easy CD-DA Extractor, the Swiss Army Knife Of Digital Audio is an ALL-IN-ONE music converter that copies Audio CDs, Converts audio files from one format to another, edits metadata of audio files and can burn Audio CD, MP3 CD & DVD, and Data CD & DVD.

I say no more this is all new

/me sneaks over to Barry's system and deletes his lic files to play wma files...

The reason I ask is because I've been slowly transferring the Latin music collection that I bought recently and I tried Yahoo Jukebox, Media Monkey and a couple other programs, but to my surprise WMP has been the easiest and fastest so far. I'm ripping at 192 and it seems to sound fine. I was just concerned that maybe there is some quality issue or some other downfall that I'm not aware of.

The only concern that I'd have is that a lot of computer dj software doesn't seem to support the WMA format, which is what media player uses to rip tracks.

Yes there are plenty of solutions that will allow you to convert the files, but I don't know of any that are free.

Personally i don't want to shell out an extra 20-$30 to convert just because it won't play in my favourite program.. But i'm a cheap bastard so that may be just me.. heheh
