Poll on the way.... but regardless of what you charge, just play along for the general idea. This is more a fun thing than anything else.

And we will stick with WEDDINGS only.

I picked the $750 wedding.

I picked the $1,000.00. I have a business to MAKE money. If I wanted to be a people pleaser I would be a male dancer!

If you become one of the Chippendales please spare us the visuals!

Who doesn't love money? But:

A: Much more likely to get referrals from the bigger event

B: Probably a lot more fun at the bigger event

C: A good chance that the energy level will be way up for the bigger show

Some answers above in red. I can use the $250.00 for advertising and get hordes of business.

Fixed it for you Dave ;)

And if that happens it means Armageddon is here yorofl:

The funny thing is Sales 101 says your next no increases the odds your next contact will be a yes. One thing about crowd size. I cry wolf in saying the bigger one would result in more future opportunity. It only takes one guest to be the best future opportunity. 1000 folks who will have no need for your services in the future or 17 who are all getting married in the future or are on corporate planning committees could result in twice and many gigs. Not to mention again what Canute said about spending that extra 250 on marketing and sales opportunities.

Papa I understand your point as you are in it for self grat and have that lovely option to do whichever gigs you choose to do even if its only five a yr or however many.

If you look at it from Chuck's point of view, his market is exactly that, destination weddings with a limited amount of guests. And while there are people that would pay $1000.00 for a 25 person event the vast majority won't. Large parties are a lot of fun however, smaller events can also be very entertaining.

Those are my only choices?

I refuse to offer a discount no matter how many or how few guests there will be.

That's really not the point. I did say this was a fun question.

PRETEND you charge $750 as your normal rate, for the 250, but also PRETEND that someone offered you $1000 to do the 25 person event. Which would you pick?

Can I talk the 25 people into doing it early in the day and the 250 later in the night? LOL :)

OK. I'll play along.

The number of people is irrelevant. I'd be inclined to work at my regular rate.

If my normal rate was $1,000, I wouldn't consider working for the $750 client.
If my normal rate was $750, I'd wonder what the $1,000 was expecting that caused them to offer more than my normal rate.

Well, if I read you right, I agree. All I know is that regardless of money, I would rather play in front of 250 than 25. And obviously by exposing your company to 10x as many people, in theory you should have 10x the chance for referrals.
