So you sell the CDs for an average of around $4, of which 20% goes to the committee, so now your gross is $3.20, from which we subtract the costs of around $.30, so we have a pre-labor net of $2.90. If you're selling 50 of these, you might cover lunch. My partner set the price. I for $5 and 3 for $10. The committee gets 20% of the sales. Taos there is only one charge and that's for the DJ service which they used the cordless mics for the speakers so people could clearly hear them.
Which is OK if he owns up to that ... AND brings the right gear. A pair of $30 memo recorders from Walmart aren't the right tools .. nor are a pair of Yorkville subs.I don't think he's realized hes not being booked to dj yet... he's pretty much there for sound reinforcement and for recording.
No I'm being booked for a DJ. It's just that because the speaker portion is so long and not many people stay for the dance it looks like I'm not getting paid to DJ.Which is OK if he owns up to that ... AND brings the right gear. No .. you're being booked to provide sound and the DJing is a small portion of that and apparently less of an interest to the audience. No I'm being booked for a DJ. It's just that because the speaker portion is so long and not many people stay for the dance it looks like I'm not getting paid to DJ.
Steve is 100% correct, you just can’t accept it, if you were being hired to DJ, the dance portion would be the largest portion of the event, this is a speaker jam with a DJ if you wanna hang around. The people who put this on as well as the attendees obviously are far more interested in the speakers than the DJNo .. you're being booked to provide sound and the DJing is a small portion of that and apparently less of an interest to the audience.
The quicker you understand and internalize that, the easier it will be to make the proper business decisions around it.
Mix what time did this start
I was right about the speaker portion being too long. It started at 3 and didn't end till around 9:30. That's 6 1/2 hours. So time for the dance to start most of the people are tired and ready to go. I mentioned it and that's all I can do. This is not my ego talking where I think I need a large crowd to show off my great skills. I just feel I'm getting paid to do nothing. One good way to look at it is I am working and they keep wanting me to come back. They are having another event in the same place on June 30th and we'll be there again God willing.
No it's super easy the way things are done for the recording part. No issues with that part.Mix if you want an easier and better way to record them ask and there are a few here that could give you the right track. The recorders are probably the hardest and worst way to do it
Again realize this. People have told me that they feel the speaker portion is too long and that's why they don't stay for the dance. Like i said i can't change a thing in their minds. I just go there do a job and get paid.No .. you're being booked to provide sound and the DJing is a small portion of that and apparently less of an interest to the audience.
