I will mix into Do You really Want To Hurt Me and watch the guests head for the hills. No but seriously I have worked in this case and continuing the music will in most cases keep things from escalating while bouncers or the wanna be autorities take care of the issue usually getting it outside. I have worked with many security teams over my years and I often ask whats procedure if they have eyes in the back of their heads and hopefully being in such a position have intuition to smell issues out and handle them before it escalates. I learned that technique in my younger bar days as I worked my off nights from DJing as a bouncer. You dont have to be the biggest baddest to squelch any trouble. I recall one of the best bouncers of any I worked with was a female bar owner I worked for.

Nothing wrong to me on passing up a gig. Sometimes making money isn't worth the headache. Ive played at places where the sheriffs wont go
 
i played at this one bar for 7 years and ill bet 3 of the 7 years there was a fight almost every Friday night
 
It really all depends. If it's 2 drunk idiots that either bouncers or rational people can take care of, I won't stop the music and not focus on it. If my equipment is in danger, I'll stop the music.
If I don't feel that it can be controlled, I'd do what I need to do to get out of there.
 
This has never happened to me except in night clubs. The closest thing was a fight in the parking lot which ended the night 15 minutes after the party had started. Fortunately, they had paid me in full 10 minutes after the party stated started. :)
