thank you for the input but the back of my trailer has got my website listed and if you go there it has my email and phone number plus it also show's that i do not use cheap equipment
Only to other DJs .. the things Bob mentioned are probably more important to casual (and future) clients.

You're asking people to do all the work of finding you. Advertising is not a scavenger hunt.
It should evoke ACTION. Add the phone number and they might just call you while you're both stuck in traffic. :)

it also show's that i do not use cheap equipment

I've been asked ONCE in the last 38 years what brands of equipment I use. DJ customers care about outcomes not the tools.

If you were running a rental shop then perhaps the brand names would mean something. Comparatively few people would know that QSC or ADJ had anything to do with DJ gigs. JBL may be more recognized, but, so are Samsung, Realtek, and AudioVox.

I like doing car events ...

Put that on the back of the trailer too!

in a way yes i do, it says entertainment on one side and jdcarshows .com on the other with a Ford coupe under that. I feel, yes get off your lazy ass and Do a little work. Like i said car events and shows are what i like to do the trailer is second my reputation and how i do and run events is first

It looks like 2024 and 2025 are the most popular years that people are currently considering their retirement time frame. Just curious for those of you who picked those years, why did you choose 3 to 4 years out? Age? Plan to move into doing something else at that point? Don't think the business will continue to be around, and worth doing after that point?

I'm giving myself a 5 yr plan to full transition out of DJing and into real estate full time between working as an agent and investment properties. I give myself that because I know along the way I will have to maintain a certain income threshold for the lifestyle I have and it's obvious I won't make that much from real estate alone in my very first year and probably not my second year either. By my 3rd year I do see it as very likely, but the reality is there will probably still be events on the books that need to be completed... I mean I already have January 2023 events. So year 4/5 I will see it as a complete phase down with only accepting very lucrative events that will be from existing clientele networks where the "selling" is minimal.

I've actually restructured a lot of what I do in subtle ways already to adapt for the downsizing and to make things more manageable. Aside from increasing my pricing, I've also publicly removed my photo booth service from my packages. I'm trying to minimize the amount of labor and prep needed on events, and photo booths not only needed additional labor, they also had material costs, and design time.

This is it for me. I have only one to do, and that is my buddy's undated wedding. A friend of mine just asked today to dj his folk's 50th anniversary. I said yes, so I might have that one, too. Then I'm done commercially. I want to do stuff for our small town - parades, county fair, etc. - but that's it. I just turned one down yesterday from one of my best referrers.

Proformance if you look at the side of my trailer it has my Business Name, it also say's Dics Jockey Service (so they know what i do), it has my phone number and website why should i double it. Its on each side make the back different , but to each his own

The purpose of placing contact information on anything is to get maximum response.

If they are behind you and don't see an easy contact resource, they are prone to ignore the sides.

If I were using my equipment trailer as a marketing tool, I'd definitely have my phone contact info primary.

Think of it like this QSC or JBL sponsor a car show they roll in to town with a trailer how much advertising space do they give you?

I see your point on the logos and you could keep them but they at this point take up 2/3 of the back doors your name and website takes up maybe 1/10 of the space. I wouldn't rush out and change them but if you ever get re-wrapped I would make their logos much smaller and at the bottom take up the good real estate for yourself. The cars behind you have the most time to read what you are promoting

The sides are perfect you can probably see that dang thing a half mile away

all of you have good points and are right but you don't seem to understand. First I'm not trying the find new business i am happy with what i have and do. We all have something that we are good at, some its Weddings others it's school events mine is i like doing car shows. I just turned 66 I've said it before this is a young mans game so I'm putting my talent toward car events, less stress, i don't have to play till 2 am, I'm outdoors and having fun with everyone. Lets face it we all have opinions this is mine.
Question, did you ever see a race car trailer or the car it's self it has stickers all over it do you know what them mean or care

A professional (semi professional) race car / trailer has sponsors that pay to be in the location they're in - it's advertising for the sponsor. Do I know what they mean? I'd assume most of them have something to do with racing .. but this doesn't tell me anything about what it is. Could be a tire, exhaust, injectors, supercharger .. whatever. To me personally, they don't matter. To the race car driver / team / sponsor, they do matter. Is QSC or JBL sponsoring your equipment or events?

no they are not but at least my trailer says sometimes some don't say anything at all. Wouldn't you be somewhat impressed if a trailer pull into your or any event say something than nothing at all

We all agree it is better than nothing ... but we also all agree that it could be BETTER than better than nothing .. :)

like i said earlier i am not looking for new jobs, last year i had 19 car events to do they all got cancelled because of the virus the year before that i had and did 6. As we get old things get heaver and winters around here as i get old suck. I don't need DJing to get by don't get me wrong its nice but as i get older i like to stop and smell the roses once in a while

If QSC, JBL, etc mean nothing to your customer, then it just looks like bumper stickers on a car - and in that scenario, I would much rather a non-marked trailer pulled in.

and when a non mark trailer pulled in you wonder what or who the hell is that, As i say Everyone has a opinion and a disk like or like this is mine and i am gonna stick with it but i Do appreciate every ones input. You like white i like red makes the world go round

If I have a DJ coming and a vehicle pulls in with a trailer, I can make a guess who is here. If there are decals that I don't know nor care about, then they're nothing more than bumper stickers, which imo, does not look nicer than an unmarked trailer or vehicle.
