What speaker tops did you buy and why?

When it rains it pours. I played for the seniors yesterday in Montclair, NJ for their monthly birthday celebrations. They do this once a month for anyone who had a birthday during the month. I'm the resident DJ. I bring in one speaker, controller with laptop and wireless mics. I only use one speaker because that's all I need for this group of people. I finished and load up the van with my gear and when I go to start up the van wouldn't turn over. My partner came there and tried to help me get it started. It wouldn't. He thought it was the starter. I had to call Geico and get a tow. It took a while for Price Rite towing to get there. The driver said his father had a repair shop for 30 years and he was a mechanic as well. He checked it out trying to give it a jump. He thought it might be the battery. It wasn't. It's a brand new battery I got 2 weeks ago. He confirmed it was the starter. So it was towed to Motorhead repair shop in East Orange, NJ. It's there now. I need a ride to get over there to see what's up. I called the guy yesterday to tell him about the van issue. So I told him I will call him today to let him know what's going on..

Lately it's been one thing after another. My issues with my health and the issues with the van. Especially since we have the event to do next Saturday in Branch Brook Park. UGH. I played music yesterday to keep my spirits up because of what I'm going through. Sometimes the devil test me to see how bad I want to remain clean and serine. Wish me well today with the van. Have a wonderful day all. I'm just thankful it's not more serious than that and trust me I didn't want to make this post. Please be kind with your responses because I need to feel good right now instead of taking a beating.

Sorry for your bad luck, that van seems to be in the shop a lot maybe it’s time to look at newer smaller more efficient vehicle, maybe a mini van or something else that will haul your gear, be easier to get in and out of and be more reliable

I got a call today from the mechanic who was checking out the van and told me the engine was done. Ugh. He gave a price for another engine. 1K for the labor and $1,600 for the engine and maybe find one for a little less. So it's a rap. Time to look for something else.

When I get rid of this with the last guy that towed me I will get a little money for my troubles. I will then call the insurance company and tell them to stop the monthly payment because I don't have the van anymore. I'm trying today to keep my spirits up. It certainly isn't easy right now. Just have to figure out what I can do to get another vehicle. I need a vehicle not just for DJing but to get to meetings and stuff. The good news is the guy for the event on Saturday is understanding as will have us a vehicle to use for that day. Someone will be at my house at 7AM to get us there and take us back. He said please don't disappoint him, he really needs us. I text him that I'm DJ Macho Man and I will be there unless I die before then. I'm excited about this one because I need something to lift my spirits and I believe this will do it. He also said people were asking was Macho Man going to be there. That made me feel really good!

I'm not a big talker on the microphone but this one I plan to hype it up a bit. I normally let the music I play and my mixing do most of the talking for me.
 
Macho, I think that it’s smart to get a 2nd and possibly 3rd opinion on the van. Motors just don’t blow out of nowhere. What symptoms did the van have? How many miles in the current motor? You do know that not all mechanics have your best interest in mind. Don’t get taken for a ride bro.

How does an engine go from working fine, to not starting, and now it’s magically a blown motor. A motor starts before it blows, so something doesn’t line up. Do they have a reason that gave him the diagnosis of a blown engine… and not something that can potentially be repaired. Even the repair bill seems rather low if they’re replacing an engine. Makes me think they won’t actually be replacing the engine and maybe just telling you that. This seems very sketchy and almost like someone’s trying to take advantage of you, or information is missing.

Bro go get another opinion maybe from a dealership. I just put a motor (used) in my F150 I know you might find it a bit cheaper down there but I'm in around $6000. The $2600 just doesn't sound right. If it's the motor there had to be signs leading up to it

It's a 2004 and it wasn't running that good.

You should be able to find a used mini van at a decent price, I used them for years for DJing before switching to a trailer

Guys it’s fairly obvious from past posts, mix little to zero knowledge of how his or any vehicle operates or the ability to complete even the most basic repairs on his own, and that’s ok.
