What Drove Me??

I work a full time job and DJ on the side, mostly at places like VFW's... I was REALLY burned out and took all of June, July, and August off to spend time with wife and kids.... I'm still not ready to go back but have some weddings and other events already booked.
You said something about karaoke at the VA hospital... Is that something you do volunteer to do for free? I would probably be willing to do something like that for my local VA hospital. Tell us more!!!

Yes, I volunteer for that.
My Elks Lodge is very active with the Perry Point VA Hospital. Once a quarter we bus some of them to our lodge for some activities. It gets them away and gives them a huge diversion. A few months back one of the vets asked if we could do karaoke so we had karaoke and pizza. They loved it.
The same vet contacted me when the person that usually does karaoke for them stopped; basically her gear failed and she decided to not replace it. I made arrangements with the hospital's recreational services to come into the gym once a month. It gets published in their caledar.
I've been doing it now for about four months. The attendance has been steadily increasing. For the August show I had 42 vets and of that there were about 20 singers. One of my lodge brothers provides snacks out of a vet fund we keep at the lodge.
In September I not only will be doing the karaoke for them but also for a birthday party one of them is throwing for himself. Of course, I am not charging him. Besides, he's having Maryland Steamed Crabs so I help him eat them, LOL.
