What brand of speakers are these?

Ahh...Kustom...They used to be manufactured in Chanute KS...about 25 min. from my home.
Don't gamble on Kustom. The owner did and the rest is history.

Kustom is a budget brand. If I'm not mistaken they're used by bands as practice rigs.
Yep, they've been around for many years. I remember the blue and red pleated vinyl cabinet wraps from back in the '60s.
Yup, I had a Kustom 200 Stereo Bass Head, with 2 pleated cabinets with 3 15" speakers in each cabinet. They were loud and very muddy sounding..View attachment 26505

Back in the day, Carvin was along the same line as Kustom. Built to sell. Inexpensive drivers were the cause of the poor tone - I don't recall the brand but they were the same bass drivers that were installed in jukeboxes at the time.
Kustom is what gives that fluffy rawness to "Smoke on the Water"...
That's all I can think of when I hear that song....Kustom cabs in a weed filled shed during a teen band rehearsal from the 70's/80's
Not sure if the guy has great processing or replaced all the inner-workings, but there is local kraokie dude with a Kustom rig that sounds really nice. He does our local 4th of July festival every year and does a tremendous job. He comes on after the last band of the night that uses a sound company and his system sounds 10x better.

Just tossin' this out. Live sound is much harder to mix and make sound as good as a recording. Tons of gear to do that.
But pre-recorded sound is MUCH easier on the easiers even through a crappy system.
Going from live to pre-recorded is going to give you great deal of difference of quality. Could be the live acts have a reaaalllly bad engineer.

Well there you go. I guess Kustom ain't so bad after all if you have some good processing. Good to hear.
I think you can get a better "Natural Sound" from a Live Rig rather than a DJ rig. DJ rigs typically have that tinny ring to them with not much body/fullness.
I didn't say that ... I don't know anything about his rig setup, except he's probably alot like Houston in that he brings more than just a set of tops for a kroakie gig.
