What are your thoughts on the QSC 12.2 active speakers?

The QSC 12.2 active speaker, huh? I haven't had a chance to hear those yet, but it sounds like they're really something special. That's dope that you were able to compare them to your Yamahas and still be blown away. And those bass levels? Maaan, that's what I'm talking about! It's always sick when a speaker can produce that kind of low end without needing a separate sub.

I totally hear you on the price point, though. Those QSCs are no joke when it comes to cost. But hey, if they sound that good, they're probably worth it! Maybe you can save up for them or keep an eye out for a sale. Or, you know, just keep daydreaming about owning a pair like I do with a lot of gear I can't afford! Haha.

Just change your name to DJ Baby. Nobody puts Baby in a corner!
Some situations you don't have a choice. This is where you're to setup and that's it. In some venues you don't have a choice because of the size of the room. Some venues you have to make a dance floor because there is non.

It seems like you completely missed the joke there. Why does that not surprise me? I think you need to re-watch Dirty Dancing.

I certainly didn't. I don't even remember watching Dirty Dancing it's been so long. I forgot about that movie.

Now on a serious note it does suck when you're forced into a spot that's not good for you to do a good job at an event. Also what sucks is when you're forced to play the volume of the music so low that the people attending the event can't enjoy the event and its difficult for you to hear what you need to do. Anybody here have that happen?

Not a big deal at all, just adjust and go with the flow. Out of the dj’s hands. Check these out Macho, and they are listed in NJ. 2 for $800. I know you like BIG AZZ SUBS.

I have never once setup speakers on the floor.
Also wireless setup makes for more options. If I am in the corner or a loft almost always place speakers near the dance floor or so as to project the total room. Great speakers don't sound loud .

So you have never used subs? When we use subs they stay on the floor or ground. It's not about blasting the music making the music playing super loud. It's about depending on the type of event you're doing, the size of the room and speakers used that the sound should be loud enough for people to enjoy the music. Not to where it's screaming and sounds distorted.

Some think to impress the client and their guests the music has to be super loud. What will impress the audience is if you're playing the right music for the event, knowing how to mix well if called for and playing songs at the right time for the event you're doing. Also speakers have limits. You don't want to push speakers too hard because you can easily damage them.

My partner damaged a pair of the original Mackie Thumps. He was in a small room in back of a Pop Up shop playing music and blasting the music too loud. He didn't need to blast the music that loud. Especially considering he was using a pair of speakers I call Mackie Junks.

If I had 200# subs I'd leave them in the basement! :djsmug: On my big shows I fly the subs and also set subs on the floor

QSC K12.2 Are well worth the money, and they are firm ware upgradeable. I recent sold my 2 plus yrs old JBL Eon 615, 612 and 618s for a smaller setup.
plus am getting older and can't load the subs. what I like about the QSC you can set your setting and save it for later date. and you don't need no BT App on these. I hope all is well. I have been gone for some time with school. so now if you want a party and a minister. we can do both. I've down do to lost of my only son, and as of Dec.7 2022 I lost my wife. but were still here and Rocking it.

You asked what we use. I bought/use EV EKX 12" powered speakers. I was working with some guys that had JBL's and Harbinger's. I was at a wedding reception and heard the original QSC K12's. It was day and night from what I was used to. It sounded amazing. Fast forward 2 years and I was looking to buy my own. I researched for months. In a lot of forums, and videos I watched, by people who in my opinion spoke without much bias, seemed to favor the EV's. I chose them and have been very happy ever since.

In your first post you said you'd like to own a new pair of speakers, but your next post says you're not sure how much longer you'll be dj'ing. To just about anyone in the world, unless you have an endless supply of money, it doesn't make any sense to make that investment. It's your money though. If you wanna spend it, spend it. I'd say take half of your profit from every gig you do. When you have enough saved up to cover half the cost of your new speakers, go get them.
