Martin Audio makes DD12 and they have it on sale for $5959 in Adorama. I'm not looking to buy. I just want to start a discussion. What do you think of those speakers?

Okay, it has less power than an Alto and it's 20 TIMES the price. Who in the world would buy these things?
I'd love to hear one... I'm curious what $6K buys you in a 2 way speaker.
I've really been struggling with the next step in my sound gear. I've been happy with my QSC rig, but I think there is room for improvement at this point. Considering the Pioneers, EV, as well as the RCF NX system.

Ross, I am partial to RCF myself as I switched from QSC about 2 years back. Love the sound. Rick, you know Martin-audio is known as the end all be all when it comes to sound quality in high end PA systems. It's not all about SPL.

Agreed, but the Eon had been discussed. And, there is quite frankly the matter of frustration capital that Mix has spent on dozens of "what do you think about this?" threads.
I think Stevie should buy a pair and let us KNOW how they sound ... I think that is keeping with "Steve" tradition ..
For that kind of money I'd pony up and buy some class A amps and Renkus-Heinz CFX series

On paper the RCF HD-32A looks better than the DD12's, mainly due to the much larger horn compression driver and therefore lower crossover frequency - and a lot less money.

At that price, they need to be as good or better than the Pioneer CDJs. There is comfort in knowing how durable the Pio gear is. Almost every major club has that equipment set up right now, or a pair of Technics as an alternative. The stuff gets beat on for years, and keeps on performing.
Denon has built a ton of features, but time will tell if they built that kind of durability into it.
If you are going to spend that kind of money, look into Meyer. My personal favorite.
A venue I work at regularly are in the process of outfitting with a Meyer line array and all the toys. They tell me the price tag is near $300,000 for what they are doing. They are replacing a JBL line array that has been there since they opened 15 years ago. I've used the JBL array many times for different events can't wait to get my hands on the Meyer
For that price I would try to figure out a way I can steal those speakers. LOL.
Doesn't matter if the speakers cost $100K if you don't have gigs. Bookings make it all happen. Marketing makes bookings possible.
There is a point of diminishing returns the higher up the gear chain you ascend. Unless you are going after work that specifies them as a rider requirement and you can charge accordingly to compensate, there's no value to either yourself or the average client who will not know the difference.
There's lots of PA gear that has great sound and good throw without the price tag of a Meyer or Martin.
