I'd like to dabble at designing a simple website for my wedding marketing. I have an old version of Front Page and a program called Web Easy Pro 7. Front Page is difficult for me navigate :sqerr: and Web Easy is limited.

Any suggestions on software for a novice... possibly template driven?

Thanks,
Jay

Avoid FrontPage, it adds a lot of useless code to the site.
Look into Dreamweaver, I've personally never used it (I do all my own coding), but I've heard good things about it.

I wholeheartedly recommend notepad (or a similiar product). For quick design work, FrontPage is what I use. I code (and dj) for a living. YMMV.

I use the industry standard Dreamweaver... Powerful yet not too overwhelming. Presents pretty code... Let me see what my employee uses... He uses some kinda utility that is like notepad, but can do some fancy stuff. A one click xhtml compliant page... Ensures all web visitors can see the page as closely as intended.

That reminds me I need to re-install Dreamweaver and I seem to have missplaced my disc.... dog gone it!

lol I dont have to mines Portable :)

I'd earlier used Frontpage but I found that it adds on some unwanted codes into the pages. Maybe i gotta tweak it..dont know. Since then I've shifted into Dreamweaver and its very stable and user friendly. I design the bg's and other stuffs using Photoshop and then create the html pages using dreamweaver. If you are using Adobe PS with dreamweaver and you have some issues..kindly let me know..maybe I could help you out cos I had a lot of simple basic issues while designing my site.
Cheers! :)

Shaun want some ebooks on dreamweaver and photoshop just pm me

If you find Frontpage to difficult to navigate, then it is unlikley you will find Dreamweaver any easier.

Your best bet is probably Xara Web Designer. It's as easy to use and understand as an online template builder - but gives you complete control over very complex design elements without you having to know squat about code.

It can even do some things that WYSIWYG editors can't - like curved text lines. It's also a full featured vector graphics creation tool too.

Website Software

I've used Frontpage in the past but now made the switch over to Dreamweaver and I would highly reccomend it (I still do some hand coding still but not as much). It got a bit of a learning curve to it but to creat a basic website, you can pretty easily.

If you don't want to have to pay for it, there are some free or fairly cheap softwares out there that will let you build your website. www.download.com and just search for website software or you can use www.thefreesite.com

I know yahoo domain has its own program within the system that you can create and update websites using that tool, It is pretty basic, doesn't let you do Frames, will baiscly let you format text and tabs and stuff like that.

I've been using Web Easy Pro now for 2 years. It's a great program with lots of flexibility, but you will need to know a bit about HTML.
