As I've stated, I'm not here to preach one way or another. I'm merely sharing my experiences. I don't appriciate someone smacking down on my skills.

We're all free to use what we want to.

No skills smacking going on... it's just interesting that out of 1.2 million registered users, someone with such mad computer skillz can't seem to separate himself from the less than 1/2% who seems to be having problems...

You two are encourageable.... my stars on Atlanta! :sqwink:

We're all big boys here Rob.....let them talk. I'm actually finding this topic very interesting. I really like the looks of that VDJ skin.

If you like the standard skin you should take a look at the skin used in the video I referenced from YouTube... I don't remember the name of it but it comes with the trial version. It's very nice on a laptop full screen 1280x800

Ding Ding..... go for it guys but if you get blood on the mat I ain't cleanin' up after ya's.:sqwink:

Open your eyes kid! There are many more than myself... Look at the VDJ forums a bit closer!

Oh! I forgot, they aren't the most friendly forums to search through, otherwise I would have provided the post that dj_in_norway commented that it's yours for life.

Go bust someone elses balls!
I ain't takin it.

BTW, Please post the user agreement so that we can all see that it is indeed transferable, as that is where dj_in_norway stated it was not transferable.

You wanna call me stupid, I want proof it's transferable.

stability, VDJ lacks this. If you think Ots might bork, you better know that VDJ will indeed before Ots does.

I own both, and VDJ has never proven itself reliable enough for me to take on the road.

In the end, it's your decision, and your reputation on the line.

When exactly was it, When you've had all these problems Jeff??

Mine is rock solid. But i built my machine for it, And it has worked flawless,,,

Not the standard skin -- yuck! I was referring to the one he selects in the video.

I've been using VDJ for about 2 years exclusively and LOVE it. I have a Numark CDN95 as a back up...not sure if I've ever really had to use it! I agree with the automix function. I do use it for dinner hour but find myself fading the track down a bit towards the end of each because some songs just cut off so abruptly while others fade nicely. I'm still working on my beatmatching with it but love the ease of use!

Yup that's the one I mean too.... there's another skin that is very similar to that one that I like too that would be good for video & audio.

BTW did you know you can make your own skins for this too... I'm guessing Rockit is easier to make skins for but it is an option with VDJ too.

Not to worry Mr. Lynch -- ya get what ya pay for... ;) :D

Exactly? Sorry, I can only generalize!
With each release since I purchased it 2.5 years ago, on 3 different machines. One being a 2.8 ghz single core processor on an MSI board with an ATI AGP x1900 video card and 2G memory, The same memory and video card on an ASUS board, and again on the current 2.4ghz q6600 quad core on a gigabyte board, with an ATI PCIe HD3870 card, and 3G memory installed.

Hard drives vary from PATA to SATA between the various supported mobos. Memory was kingston on the first 2 boards, and corsair on the current.

I had assistance from a VDJ member to correct some video codec issues, and it still didn't run as smooth as I'd like to see it.

As I've also stated, the latest version is the best yet, but it still failed me.

I didn't mean EXACTLY...Lol i was wondering if it was tears ago or last week..
Your specs sound almost like mine, I have an MSI board now, And had an ASUS before being ripped off by my computer guy...

Why did VDJ "Fail" your expectations?? You've been biased towards OTS for a long time, Most of us all know that. But to say VDJ is unstable and junk just doesnt jive with me, when theres pleanty of guys on here that use it with great success....

I do not use OTS. It is very expensive from what i hear, And it seems very fussy as to the files it will use.....But when configured correctly, It is a top knotch product. This is understood.

Your assesment of VDJ being a "failure" is very vague to me

Thanks for asking nicely! :) Although Tears aren't necessary. LOL

I purchased VDJ (4/17/2006) to do video because at the time, video wasn't an option with Ots. I tested VDJ for months, and was never able to get smooth transitions, and it crashed often as described. I ended up doing video with Ots in a different method. I ran all my straight audio through Ots, and then manually mixed the videos in using windows media player or PowerDVD, as it was a much more reliable solution I'm sad to say.

Since, Ots has added video to the mix (Oct, 31 2006), and VDJ has become more stable with it's current release, but VDJ still isn't "safe" enough for me to consider a real contender in my setup. Simply my experience. It's really nothing personal. I'm open to alternate software, and had given VDJ what I felt a fair chance.

FWIW, I wanted to buy DJpower in the beginning, and actually owned PCDJ first (d1200sl known as the early version of Red Purchased in Aug 99), and own a copy of Torq that came with my Xponent controller (June 2008), and I had no luck with those apps as well. Ots has been the only app to weather the storm of computers I've thrown at it. It may well have lacked many features of most of the apps available in the beginning, but it was well worth holding out as it was always stable and reliable. Admittedly, it was boring waiting on most of the updates, especially the ABM update, but in the end, it still works as I expect it to, without surprises. It has never failed me public or privately, allowing me to have great reputation in my area as the first Digital DJ of Iowa, and one of the first few in the nation back in 1999. I was completely converted to digital in March of 2000.

Now that Ots has provided video for over 2 years, I am quite spoiled in the difference in quality output compared to that of the other video apps, including VDJ.

Realize that this is simply my opinion, but I still feel that Media player and PowerDVD have higher quality video output than VDJ. That simply isn't right for a pro video application.

I never said VDJ was junk, nor will I. It has it's place in the market, just not in my live shows. It simply doesn't meet my spoiled expectations. If it meets your expectations, then great. Don't let me change your thinking.

This :withstupid: is why I said I want to keep and use both apps.... not that I do anything with video at this time but you never know... BTW sorry bout the "I'm With Stupid" sign it was the only smily I could find that pointed up.... without giving the finger.

I will say this I'm having a lot of fun learning how to mix manually via my mouse and can't wait to get a controller so that I can use two hands to mix with.... (crap what did I just open myself up to....?)

And the Virtual DJ license cannot be transferred. I still use it and no complaints :D:D:D:D:D

Rob, if you right-click the "+" in the waitlist, you can choose the type of automix. I prefer the fourth choice down (fade, remove nothing), and an automix of 4 seconds. This gets me the best results for autoplay, during cocktails and dinners. I go "hands on" with my controller of choice (I think you know which one), after that.

Jon, you can easily add and remove from a playlist "on the fly". I often do.

Hey thanks I'll try the fade option later on and see how that works for me...

Oh and yes I know exactly which controller you like.... it's also the one I want too.

Speaking of what do you think of the new one that just came out without the sound card being built into it? How does it compare to the original RMX?

I have a Turtle Beach sound card in my computer that I like very much and the only advantage I see with the original RMX is that it has the sound card built in along with a single Mic input and a headphone jack. I'm not sure if the new one has a headphone jack or not.
