Venues Are Installing Pro Sound Systems

Not only that Hank, but they may actually hire an "In House DJ", either as a part timer or full timer with hourly wages. They will make more money from the total charge too.
 
I don't know if you can call it a down side but another angle here to be considered is that a real good DJ who uses crappy gear can really shine in a venue that has excellent equipment.
There are lots of them out there, no doubt. They may not have good gear but they have awesome skills.

I've seen several venues try to do that. It's not a new idea. I've yet to see it succeed as a money making add on.


One place around here tried that about 4 years ago. They charged an extra $400 for equipment. First they tried to make it mandatory, then that didn't work, so they tried to just sell it as an add on. But the gear got outdated, they still had to hire someone to set it up, fix it,and then trouble shoot it. Plus, the couples had trouble finding good DJs that would take less money to use the venue's equipment. And DJs they did find didn't take care of the equipment. They tried hiring their own DJs, with typical issues. They didn't end up that much ahead with lots of headaches.

It looked to easy when the DJ did it. Just like catering the event looks easy when everyone knows what they are doing.

They realized it was better to just focus on what they do and not worry about things they don't know anything about.


Like I said earlier, when the high end venues are charging big bucks anyway and the equipment is to ensure quality, it works well because they can afford good equipment and the people to maintain it.

But as a money making add on, it rarely works for a venue.
