Kevin has shared so freely here and I consider that one of the great things we try and promote on this site. The individuals who are abusing such great sharing best hope I dont find out who they are. I apologize for a few idiots here Kevin. I hope it gets resolved swiftly.

Kevin,

I just went to google/images tab and typed in "DJ monogram" and found one of yours on the first page!

And, this was on the second page. :sqlaugh: :sqwink:

Understand that Kevin posted this same message at other sites -- not just here...

It happens. I only post pics with a watermark on them, and I mean across the middle. THey don't go online without our name! I've had djs across the US and canada post our big system as their own; some even could't understand why I asked to have it removed. In extreme cases you have to contact their web host who will generally immediately pull the content or their entire site once they hear of stolen images posted. Most will come back with an excuse that their "webmaster found the pic somewhere and posted it without them knowing and they'll take it down". As long as they pull it, it's ok. Don't care if it's the truth or not.

Kevin,
Go ahead and watermark them. What you post only inspires to improve what we do as individuals and you should be recognized for it. Plagiarism (And that's what this is) was never tolerated at school or anywhere else and I've had people (Med students) warned and expelled for such actions as well as cheating. Do you want a doctor that knows his stuff or just cheated and plagiarized everything during his time at the university?

Although not as drastic, the same applies here period.

Sorry to hear about that Kevin. I do use a couple of loaned pics from one other DJ with his permission. I also have borrowed text on one of my webpages, with proper copyright credit on the bottom of the page (and his permission of course). I actually know of one instance of somebody on this board lifting text from my site and using it on his, I really should address it.

Just a thought, besides watermarking, when you post you should use copies of your original pics that are smaller and at a lower resolution.

It's frustrating to see your images on other DJ's Websites... but I must say those are some very high quality images and they look beautiful.... Not to mention they were well thought out and very creatively placed... I will be using your blog for inspiration...

Thanks!

Glad to hear about the snake. I am thinking about doing an open mic night. Wish I still had it!

Info on the gobos?

He cheats and uses a projector! :sqmad:

Actually...I'm just jealous.

(But it is true about using a projector. I think a couple of guys on here are doing their "gobos" that way. Certainly does allow for more creativity.)

Kevin, even though we don't watermark or stamp our pics. I would recommend that you do as you are offering a service that exceeds the norm by a long way. There is no reason that anyone lift your pics and use them. Learn from them, yes.

YMMV
