I just completed running all my MP3's through Platinum Notes.... I had quite a bit of framing errors and encoding issues from miss handled HDD..... all fixed now... and I think some of them actually sound better. But, you really need a super computer to process with... on an old dual core it took nearly a month to analyze and re-write 38K in files.

Looking at the website, it looks like a tool that might be useful for music playback, but I don't think I would pre-process anything I was going to save .. anything that changes a music file permanently from what the original intent was, shouldn't be used, in my opinion, for "master files". It says it corrects pitch .. from what? the intended pitch? Also says it "adds warmth" .. that's what a BBE kind of does and I wouldn't pre-process files with that either.

It's not processing like a BBE.... think more along the lines of what something like Cool Edit can do but, automagically. BTW you don't have to use all the features.... including pitch correction, adding warmth etc....

I will say this... some of my shall we say sterile sounding files do sound a lot fuller and ones where they peaked sooner sound a lot less distorted to my ear.

Also, I had a lot of files that had errors in them that would cause VDJ and Serato to crash on occasion. That seems fixed now as I don't see any file error indicators.

I'll post a side by side if I can....since the program doesn't alter the original input file and writes it as new.... so, basically if you don't like the results you can just trash the new file... right.

If you can turn off the features, then OK .. it would be nice if it ran like an insert on VDJ or other DJ apps for playback "fixing"

The best review is this one: http://www.djtechtools.com/2013/07/16/review-mixed-in-key-platinum-notes-4/

The feature of Platinum Notes that I like is the equalisation of volume from track to track... I don't use a lot of the other stuff it offers. It's part of my track prep routine these days which is: Standardise tags in MP3Tag.de -> Process in Mixed in Key -> Process in Platinum Notes -> Analyse in Serato -> Analyse in RekordBox.

Jokers, as to your comment on speed, the more core the better. That applies to most audio processing software most of which will do one track per logical core at a time. 2 logical cores means 2 tracks at a time, 8 logical cores means 8 at a time.

If the original song was saved and clipping (which nothing professionaly mastered should be), correct me if I'm wrong, but there's no way to really reverse that. You bring the level down, and it won't actually be "clipping" anymore, but you'll still have the squared-off waveform from where it was saved originally clipping.

You are correct. I'm not sure what Platinum Notes considers "clipping" though. The song may not actually be beyond 100 percent signal level it could just be beyond some threshold of headroom they consider unacceptable. One would expect/hope that a song directly from a producers/masterer would not be clipped.
