Sold the last of the L1 legacy stuff. Bought a few more of the new L1 pro lines so now everything we have can be controlled by same app, have onboard mixer, effects, Bluetooth. Don’t use Bluetooth much, but it’s nice to have in the back pocket. IMG_7110.jpeg

How does that new Bose stack up against the EV Evolve 50? (loudness, weight, mixer)
Before I first bought the 16’s I tested out the evolve 50’s. I found them to be very similar, so just went with the p16’s since my t4 mixer worked well with them and my history with the brand. I could have gone either way.
Wasn’t an elaborate trial, just in a store. Have never used the 50’s in a real world setting

If memory serves, the 16’s are about 10 lbs lighter. The EVs claim to get a little louder, not that I tested that. Similar on board mixer. Didn’t check out their app

Use the 16’s the most. Love the 32’s for larger events

Thanks. I think I read the EVs are 3db louder than the pro16. The pro32 is rated 1 db louder. I like the 7-channel board on the EV. I love the idea of a mixer app (if that's what you meant). I still like the Harbingers that I bought, but they're rated at 123db although they're more than loud enough for my needs. On a side note, I've been tweaking my soloact setup. Bose S1 Pro and an ipad running BandHelper. I'm playing an acoustic and sing without a mic (although I do have a headset mic). It's a fun little setup that can go anywhere, no wall juice needed.

The 16s are absolutely louder and have a lot more low-end. The 32s don't even compare as it's a full step up.

The Evolve 50 is fantastic until it's not. It just doesn't have any headroom and can get compressed once you get any substantial volume. The great tone goes away and it sounds harsh when pushed.

Specs just don't tell the whole story and in my experience, are very misleading. I sold my ES1203 which claims to go down to 35 and be a lout louder than the Pro32, and it's not even close in real world scenarios.

That was my experience when I heard the EVs. I was at a wedding and the DJ was using them. Not a huge crowd, but they were redlined to the max and sounded like 💩

^^ it kind of amazes me so many DJs are using the Evolve 50s. They are great for 100 people max and even then it's really pushing it.
Just buy 2 and of you need to use 2 just to so. Also remember some venues are not that big. Some can hold less than 100 people. Some venues have multiple rooms which some rooms in the venue are very small and some huge. The Gran Centurions has at least a couple of rooms that are small and I know one big room that's called a Ballroom..

Please do remember it also has to do with what kind of events you do and on average how many people are normally at events you do for clients. Some DJs do events for clients with 150 people or more quite often.

^ I am referring to using them as pairs (stereo).
If those are the ones I heard I say the sound was awesome! It was at the NJDJN meeting. We were in a small room. I miss those meetings. I have a commitment that keeps me from attending those meetings right now.

Let me say that the Evolve 50 was never meant to be a speaker system designed to handle a crowd of 250-300 people. It was designed to be used with a crowd of no more than say 125 and that's pushing it. Other speaker systems are designed to handle larger crowds than that. It's all about the type of event you're doing, the size of the room and how many people are attending the event.

Do you work for EV or something?

Mix... there is no more njdjn for years now. Not sure what commitments exist that are conflicting with meetings that don't exist.
