Traktor & Motorized Platters/Controllers

I started this thread in response to Kittmaster's comment on another thread. I have two Technics SL 1200 MkII Turntables, the original ones. These have motorized platters. I can use Traktor Pro with them with their Time Coded Vinyl just fine. It is much cheaper and realistic to use the Turntables than the Motorized platters on units like the Numarks.
Some motorized Platters are not only bulky but heavy as well. It is a choice some choose to make and there is nothing wrong with that at all. Here is a link with discussion about that subject. http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=164317

For particular packages, turntables may not be an option. I like and use both - as needed. FWIW, I believe the NS7 has "real" records on their platters. In addition, other than club use, most people are not lugging turntables anymore.

From a financial point, considering a MK2 is about 1000 bucks, it may not be cheaper for someone to obtain this setup unless they already have what would be needed.

Yes, the NS7 1 and 2 and V7 uses the same exact vinyl that was cut for standard 45's and 33 RPM records from days of yore.

Time code is nice, but jumping vibration can still cause the needles to jump if your on a crappy stage or school gym floor. With the Numark version of it, it will never skip since there is no needle to lose tracking on the vinyl.

I swear, they are exactly like playing on 1200's and I had 8 at one point, down to 4, so I wouldn't have converted to them if they weren't the real deal.

Again, no right or wrong, that is why there are numerous choices on the market.

I did love my 1200's back in the day but do not miss the size and weight. I did look at the v7 when they came out but was not impressed with them.
I thought I would have to have motorized decks but I love my CDJ Nexus units they work great and can't see myself going back.
