Well, after several years my first set of subs finally died...we were bumping along at a low volume event last week, when all of a sudden the "fullness" of my sound went away...LOL.

I was running them with my EV ZX1's, which I've done a couple dozen times now. A quick look at everything and all seemed well, and where it was near the end of the event (a small, business showcase trade show) I just ran with the ZX's for the remaining few minutes.

I finally got a chance to delve into what happened, tonight. I went thru the "elimination" process and finally concluded that it appeared to be the subs...a check with the ohmmeter confirmed it...both of them.

Thunder and I have bantered back and forth on these a couple of times, but I've got to tell you that for the price, my Peavey PR subs have served me well...LOL...as inexpensive as they are, they certainly earned their keep!!

They will get replaced with the EV SB122's to be used for my smaller events and some wedding functions.

C'est La Vie!
 
Now just get a real sub and you will be good to go! spend you money wisely skip the SB122 and buy yourself a decent 18" sub (regardless of the brand) you will be a lot happier in the end!

Well hey in that case MMM go for that PylePro 18" you can't go wrong there..... Thunder says so.... see above. :sqerr::sqlaugh:
 
Replacing the drivers in a pair of Peavey PRs doesn't really make sense because you still have a plastic cabinet and you are still stuck with a 12 or 15" LF driver!

Again my advice is to go ahead and get a real sub you know big, heavy, made of wood and able to reproduce real sub frequencies!
 
I ran the Peavey 18" BW's for many years! Replaced one basket the entire time. They absolutely rocked, but I don't miss the boat anchors I powered that system with. ;)

Sadly, I no longer own anymore of my Peavey gear. It was just sitting here collecting dust, so I parted with it all. :(

I still run Peavey gear but the Peavey PRs are not really Peavey, there is a huge difference between a driver used in a PR and a BW driver!
