Mostly the father / daughter or mother / son dances....

Do you?.....

A. Just go get it with no real thoughts about it.

B. I get it, but I'm not happy about it

C. I have the client supply it

D. I ask the client to pay me to buy it

E. Other.

I'll select them all. I take each clients request on a case by case basis.

I'll tell them if they have it just send it over to me.

At times I'll just buy it if it's a last minute thing.

I'm never happy about it because those $10 songs usually suck anyway.

The client pays me to buy it in their very large contract price. It's my job to supply the music.

When in doubt I'll always to with other.

Everything but:

D. I ask the client to pay me to buy it

I figure it's part of the cost of doing business.

YMMV

I'm downloading a "A Mother's Song" by T. Carter as we speak. The bride offered to pay for it, but I declined.

If it's what the client wants, that's what they get. I think $10.99 is a little much to spend for one song (even though I get 3 extra copies of it that I'll never use). However, it'll make them happy and that's what counts.

I do draw the line if it's only found on an expensive box set for which I have most of the songs.

I've bought them in the past, never thought about getting the client to pay for them. Worse case for me was they say they want the song I buy it, then they change their mind to a regular song, that I already had. :sqmad:

Usually "A" 10 bucks no problem hell we bring a rose for the Mother and son dance and say its from the groom on his special day but thanking mom for being there for him in life. It's eight dollars worth of tears the most part and it makes us different. I like being different. :sqwink: Of course the groom knows about it ahead of time all he has to do is smile and enjoy the hug and the ewws and aweesss.

I've spent $39 bucks just for one song.... Rod Stewart - Faith of the Heart Which only appeared on one CD which was sold as a single from the Patch Adams soundtrack.... Only place I could find it was Amazon.com

But, ya I have a few $10 songs that got played once and even one that got nixed shortly after I had already purchased it.

Sorry but for the last 18+ years I havent done this unless asked for
we give them the 3x song option and then its up to them if they want to do it

there has been too many clients that have lost parents, divirced or other reasons they dont want to do these certain dances

so unless asked we dont do it

Mostly B. Just paid T Carter $10 for Daddy's Angel. Thanks Youtube.

I might pay $10 - and be all frumpy inside about it... But no chance in hell I'm taking $39 out of my wallet for a single song. They supply it or pay for it or it ain't happening.

This is a little different than those $10 songs you can only get off some Wedding Song site... for example... as it really is a nice song and I do use it for dinner and as a slow song for dancing... it's quite nice... just only available as a single song on CD.... in fact I'm listening to it now.

It varies.

i know I have some of those wedding song discs. Maybe we should set up a list somewhere here so we can resell them when someone needs it and someone is looking to get rid of that disc they bought for the one song/one time.

I have the "A song for my Son/Daughter" discs. Have used them a few times.

I buy music almost for every wedding I do. No matter how much music you have, most have 1 request I don't have. Wal Mart, I tunes or Imesh.

I have had the last minute change thing also. Spend money on a song then they decide not to do it.

$10+ songs are the only ones I steal and I'm happy to admit that.

I pay $1.99 tops for Rock Band tunes for PS3 parties and $1.29 is the most I've paid for any other song. I spend enough as is. I never bother the client with the details. I get the music they request. So far I've only stole 2 of those lousy tracks.

I just talked with Mr. "T-Carter" the other night. My bride wanted his Daddy's Angel for her F/D dance...it cost $10.99...but whatever. I clicked to purchase and somehow bought the Mother's Song instead :sqmad: I could have sworn I had the F/D song in my shopping cart so I called the guy...at 11:00 PM. He answered and apologized (even though it may have been my fault). We had a good talk about how he writes all the songs and melody's himself at home then hires up and coming Nashville artists to sing them. At the end of our conversation he told me that he would be sending me his entire collection for free :sqerr: Needless to say, I LOVE the guy, but I do have a new perspective on why his songs cost so much and it actually makes me feel better supporting an artist like him instead of most of the artists I have to pay money to (aka Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy, DJ jazzy mc murder...)

Ok, just put 2 and 2 together and realized that one of my brides wants a T carter song for her dance.

I didn't realize I was going to have to pay $10.99 for it.
