This is one of the funniest things that has happened since I have been a computer DJ.

I had some songs I put on my HD because I have back to back Fridays to do events. I went to see if the songs I added would come up on VDJ and on one laptop they wouldn't come up and on the other one they came right up. That's strange to me. I don't know why those songs would only show up on one laptop and not both. I have 2 Lenovo laptops and I see now I need to use the laptop I got from my partner to DJ with and use the other one to play Monopoly.

On the one laptop I have voice overs that I love. I wish I knew how to transfer those voice overs to the other laptop. Is it possible to do this?

Mix, you're just talking about transferring the files from one machine to another. There are a bunch of ways to do it.

If you have a thumb drive, you can put them on the thumb drive and move it. You have an external hard drive, you can put them on there and move it. If both machines are on the same wifi, you could do it wirelessly. But I think a thumb drive or your hard drive are probably the easiest option for you.

I use an external HD to sync my machines. I have a .bat file setup to use RoboCopy on machine #1. I then connect the HD to the 2nd machine and use another Robocopy command to copy the updated director over to the 2nd machine. Not sure if you'll have to reindex VDJ or not. I'm guessing you will.

Put the drops on your external hard drive and then put them on the second laptop. Easy peasy.

You can load files on either computer. They won't show up in the DJ/music program until you re-curse or re-index the folders that contain your music.

Some DJ programs ask at the time of installation where your music is stored, and automatically recurse that folder each time you open the program. Others require you to do it manually when desired, or allow the feature to be turned on or off.

In order for this recurse to work - new files have to be added to the specific folder in which the program has been told to look.

When you say you put some songs on your hd, how did you do that? You can do the same thing on the other computer.
If you added them to an external HD AND they are only being seen on one computer with the same external HD plugged in to either computer, it would suggest the database on one computer needs to be rescanned or updated.

As Ross mentioned, best way for moving voiceovers from one computer to another would be a thumb drive.
