I know I've posted before about my mixer obsession I got about a dozen hanging around but I think i may make the jump for one more. My man motivation is I want something that can easily do a mix/minus and I want something that will turn the speakers off when the mic comes on. So far the Rodecaster Pro seems to be the best choice

If anyone has any other suggestions i'd love to hear them

Looks simple enough .. does anything you already have do that (minus the pushbuttons)?

Nothing I have turns the speakers off when a mic goes on and I haven't found a clean easy solution aside from a board that does it. I can do a mix/minus with pretty much any of the ones I would use in the studio all you need is an Aux out and the right cables to connect the phone/PC. The Rodecaster does it automatically and you can hook a cell or desk phone with one cable or by bluetooth

The processing seems pretty good too on this unit it would eliminate a compresser/deesser/gate/limiter if it can do as advertised. You can change those settings for each mic channel too. if I was recording musicians it would be different but for internet radio or podcasting the processing is more than enough. There's a bunch of other neat little features too

Here's a video I watched tonight reviwing it. i watched a couple but this one explains it best

I have one of these for internet radio projects, and some ceremony sound stuff and can't really fault it. Perfect for podcasting, broadcasting, live PA and more. The new software introduces MIDI as well which you can assign to the buttons so that can be useful.

The Rodecaster can turn off monitoring when the mic is active too :). Mix minus which is nice...it's just perfect for me anyway.

The processing is nice and highly configurable.

That's what I use for the podcast I'm on. I'm not using all of it's features right now since I'm recording most of my shows virtually using Zencastr - at which point the Rode is just a fancy interface. But the more I learn about it, the more I like it, and as a podcast recording novice it was intuitive enough to plug and play.

Granted... I don't know what a mix/minus is... so you may need someone smarter that I am for better feedback :)

It's basically a bypass on a phone call going through your board. The caller will hear everything in the mix except (minus) their own voice without it their voice will be feeding back to them with a delay

So the trigger has been pulled :) My wife saw me watching videos and started asking questions and after talking for a few minutes she said she was looking to get me something for Christmas anyway and to order it. It will be in next week but I can't have it until Santa comes :) I'll do a review after I get to play with it a bit
