So over the years, I’ve seen conventions for vacuum cleaners even stones during my travels. I’ve seen the guys pushing vacuum cleaners and even large boulders at conventions & conferences. I’ve told people they have conventions for everything. But this one had me scratching my head. And at the same time as CES.

It's a good one... I know this because in the late 1990s, Mobile Beat used to hold their Las Vegas convention on the same week as the VSDA (Video Software Dealers Association) convention. Basically, a porn convention with its own awards show and everything. Needless to say, it was a very exciting week at Mobile Beat.

A fellow I knew when I was younger is in that business he goes to the show every year apparently it's pretty wild

AVN and CES coincided for MANY years. It was quite normal to see the porn stars walking through the hallways of the show hotels. It actually makes a lot of sense. Porn drove VCR sales and cable TV subscriptions in the early days of both. There was one year where one CES booth was giving out free vibrators. CES eventually grew so large that the AVN show got pushed to a different week. However, the LVCC has recently done a huge expansion and shows in general are smaller due to Covid. I guess there is room for AVN to coincide once more. Figures they would do that on a year I decided not to attend CES.

I haven’t seen anyone from that convention so far or the other times I was here. But it makes sense. Pretty much CES is at three different locations again. Attendance seem back to where I remember it 6 years ago. I am staying downtown this year but it’s crazier than Times Square.

I like staying downtown for CES. Most of the traffic is south of the convention center not north to downtown. Glad to hear foot traffic is back up. The AVN show used to be in the basement of the Sands Convention Center. The porn stars would be all over the Venetian and Palazzo walking to and from the Sands.

Then CES moved Eureka Park into the Sands space that housed AVN. That was before the West Hall of LVCC was built. I know AVN also had events at The Palms (or maybe it was the Rio) and many hung out at the Hard Rock Casino (now Mohegan).

I think they’re all at Resorts World. Over at the Venetian/Sands convention center, it is a key location again this years. Bryan & I got lost in there last, seriously, we couldn’t find the way out. He made it over this year I didn’t. He into robotics/VR making connections for his next Co-op. I am looking at the computers, consumer electrics, EV technology and what’s next. A bunch of very interesting very different laptops are due out in a couple of month, so I am getting some hands on times.

I go to the SHOT show every year in Vegas. It's next week. The AVN SHOW was the same time several times. This year we have a cement show the same time.

Just as exciting as the AVN😁

it just shows how liberal and acepting some places can be of the porn industry which is a good thing really as its a valid area of work that is masvely popular but looked down upon because of stigma, i go to a lott of expos/conventiosn but ive never once heard of a porn expo.,however im non sexual so it may be that i just dont realise it exists here,id say its more likely that my home town of Manchester (UK) isnt as liberal as it likes tourists to think though.
