Rick i do not know if you like jazz but when you get your system together look for this on vinyl or SACD

With your eyes closed on a good system this is as real as it gets. This recording is by far the best recording I have ever heard. The depth and space, the placement of the performers and the actual staff serving drinks will make you forget you are listening to a recording but to well played live music at a cozy jazz club.

Thanks for the awesome find Dr. If you like that album for sonic clarity, quality, and aural ambiance, try this one too. Just a duo, but as intimate as it gets. You're sitting AT this piano - not in the room listening to it!

YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF??????????? LOL................

77 degrees here in Miami but cloudy and rainy! LOL.........

If you buy my place, I can move back to Naples where I belong... :)

So, I just listened to Abbey Road on my new turntable and speakers -- OMG!

Never heard half the stuff I heard tonight!

The amp, speaker cables, phono pre-amp and sub haven't arrived yet, but the difference is amazing. This is a fresh reissue copy I just got of the album, nothing fancy. But the detail is amazing on this table (Pro-Ject table).

The drums and bass really amaze me -- I always sorta concentrated on the vocals before, but now all the instruments are standing out. Even with my old mono-blocks, I usually listened to CDs, and missed all this good stuff.

Love this album :)

I have always had a fondness for Sgt Peppers, will have to revisit Abbey Road again

Definitely! The mix on this album really did open up with these new remasters. There's a reason it's generally considered the best and most important rock album of all time. :triwink:

Think about it... All that coming from FOUR TRACK technology! :tricool:

If only stuff recorded today sounded HALF as good, I wouldn't be so cynical & jaded. :tritongue:

Gee Kirb, it's about time -- Always was the first dance at my wedding back in '87... :sqerr: :sqlaugh:

Yeah, I know......:trisad::trisad: I thought I had some of Atlantic Starr's music, but I didn't...:trisad: Not a lot of requests for this around here, but I decided to go ahead and pick it up.

Trying to fill in some holes in the library....:tribiggrin:

I NEVER would've seen that one coming.... :triconfused:

Her choice I assume?

As with everything else in that Godforsaken episode, we had to have two of everything apparently... :sqerr:

Two wedding dresses (she decided she didn't like the first at the last minute), two wedding rings (I think she actually lost the first one before the wedding), and two first dance songs. I picked Crazy For You by Madonna, I thought I'd at least get some say in this, since I paid for it -- but NO, she wanted Always, and my song was played later...

Marriage made in Hell :yoDur:

I dug out a bunch of CDs today, to play on the new SACD/CD player, so I could test speaker placement.

80+% of my collection is mint -- only put in to rip into the computer, then stored. I still have 150 or so with the plastic on, never opened yet! :sqerr:

Anyway, I grabbed about a 100 or so out of the storage room, and was listening to Supertramp, Paul Simon, Queen, Thin Lizzy, et. al.

Sounds great on this deck (much better than the decks I'd been using prior), but no comparison to the SACD or vinyl -- I'm totally spoiled now... :)

Just a couple notes on the SACD's...

I got Eric Clapton -- 461 Ocean Blvd. on SACD, and I also have a brand new copy on RBCD. Not a great difference, and I wouldn't spend the extra for the SACD. There is a difference, but not worth twice the price, unless you are a diehard Clapton fan.

Captain Fantastic - Elton John, on the other hand, is worlds apart! It comes incredibly close to vinyl, without the maintenance headaches of vinyl. Whoever mixed it, did a fantastic job (pun intended) :)

I'm so out of touch since I hung up the headphones... I never made the switch to pc based.

You mention some great oldies though Rick. Supertramp is among my fav's as well as early Toto, before they went mainstream.
