I just finished watching "Shut Up and Sing"

It's the documentary that was done surrounding the whole Dixie Chicks controversery a few year back.

No matter where you fall on what happened, this is a first rate film to watch.

I do not in any way agree with that the singer said, but the one thing I can say after watching this is that I really like how she completely stood her ground and would not give in to the preasure.

I have a certain respect for people like that.

"1958" -- TimeLife 2xLP set.

There's a story here. I am doing an anniversary. The couple was married, coincidentally, in 1958.

The lady organising it told me to also play British invasion stuff; coincidentally, the family is British or something. So I am also listening to my sister's LP, titled "British Invasion."

Just got done listening to The Sofa Kings, a local Blues band this afternoon. Guitar, Bass, Drums and a vocalist. Good, tight sound and they played a bit of Stevie Ray & Jimmy Vaughn, B.B. King, etc. They mixed up their sets by switching to some acoustic blues and then revving it up for some good ole electric blues. :thumbsup:

Later this afternoon we're going to catch another local Blues/R&B/Funk Band, The Groove Daddies. Little bit larger band with guitarist (vocals), bass (vocals), drums, keyboards (vocals), saxaphone (vocals) and a vocalist. They are a good-time, get-drunk and have fun kind of band. :D

That is, indeed, a terrific film.

And it is rather ironic that, years later, far more of the population agrees with what Natalie Maines stated that she felt. She was just way ahead of the majority of people. It was silly the way things went down, since she stated an opinion using her right to Free Speech. Agree or disagree, it was her right to say whatever she wanted.

More ironic is the fact that the knee-jerk attempts at building ratings by radio stations ("Let's melt down all of the Dixie Chicks' CDs!!") did nothing and now those same stations are playing the Chicks' old favorites again.
