Weddings The Tux!

As I have relayed on several threads I have recently lost a lot of weight (and girth) So I found myself with several very large, very expensive tuxedeos that fit me sort of like a large sack!

Today I went to Kohls with my wife for her last minute Christmas shopping and hung around in the mens clothing section for a while. So I noticed they had several racks of something called Chaps suits (yes, made in china). I got to looking at them and while ok looking threads it certainly wasn;t the best workmanship I have ever seen, anyway that is not the point! The point is I was looking for a suit to fill a short term need (as I am still losing weight)! Well damn they had a rack of Tuxes and i got to looking at them tried one on and it fit to the tee, My wife looked at it and said hey we are going to get it! She said she can resew some of the critical areas and it will hold up as well as some of the $800 tuxes I could no longer wear! So I purchased a light weight wool, black dinner tux, conventional tux shirt, pleated tux shirt, cumberbund, bowtie and a flair tie for less than $200! This included cufflinks and buttons and spreader also!

Damn thing actually looks damn good on me!

Until I hit my target weight I can afford to buy these to fill in until I get to the size I will remain at, then I will once again invest in a couple of Tuxedeos that are quality made

So if you need a Tux on a limited basis (you don't wear one every week) this may be something some of you would be interested in! Right now they are 50% off! Pant sizes up to 42", Jacket sizes up to 50", shirts up to 18 1/2" neck!
 
Congestive heart failure, Thyroid condition, Hypertension, Diabetic, Doctor told me she would be cutting my feet off in 6 months and I would be dead in a year! Or I could start taking my meds and eating properly to control my condition! While I didn't really mind the dying part so much, doing so without all my body parts scared the heck out of me.

So to put it simply my weight loss (now 75 pounds) is all because of changing my eating habits completely.

So reducing to 50 carbs per meal three times a day and 20 carbs for snacks (between meals) three times a day, drinking water or Coke zero instead of sodas cooking with "splenda" instead of sugar, cutting out all pastas, red meats, cured meats, fried meats, eating only boiled, broiled or roasted chicken, pork or fish, No white bread, no brown beans, no white potatoes, no cakes, no candies, small protions of any foods (although you would be shocked at the amounts of pork and chicken I can have) I am never hungry!

Oh yeah and I am now able to walk more than 100 feet before having to stop and catch my breath, in fact I walk a mile everyday and run the last 100 yards on the way back! I am also once again doing martial excersises and am once again gaining my flexability back.

Sugar is now 1 point high, blood pressure ranges between 122/70 to 114/68, I'm alive!

Still have 50 pounds to lose, and I will be a lean,,, mean ,,, (old ass) love machine!!! LOL

Does not wear a TUX! Never have and never will. A double breasted suit, YES! If I am doing a wedding (Last two was at a Nudist place, go figure), I tell the B&G that I am not trying to compete with their guests. I will wear a suit and thats that!:sqbiggrin:

I would rather not wear one as well but many corp functions as well as weddings request or require their use, If I am asked to wear shorts and a Jimmy Buffet shirt I will do so if asked to wear a tux then I do that. If asked to go naked I am sorry I have to turn that one down (just don't have the body for it yet)

Do you know how I combat that? I ask very nicely, "You won't mind if I wear a nice suit, right?" Answer is always along the lines of "Sure, go right ahead!" It works every time.

The Santa suit was sold in October of this year and I didn't grow out the beard for Christmas this year either, but i still had a bunch of calls I simply passed on to the guy that bought my suit!

To be honest that was easy money for 1/2 hour runs, I could get in three or four appearances in a single night, I will miss that cash (and the young 20 something ladies sitting on my lap)

Seriously, Shirl and I haven't visited with Steve in some years so this news comes as a surprise. We knew the old Steve... before the docs got ahold of him and convinced him to change his ways.

Steve, we're happy to hear. Keep up the good living, my compadre and give Miz J a slap on the ass for me. We'll tip a cup of eggnog to your health tonight. :)
 
I bought a Chaps suit a few years back. The Damn things are as durable as any suit I have ever owned. There are certinaly better made suits but dollar for dollar Chaps is fine

Stay healthy Steve the Bose guys would be lost without you :sqwink:

(although, your motivation was quite extreme)
ever since I hit my 40's
I've been getting "warned" about all those fun afflictions!

and since your original post was about the tux...

I worked out a fine deal with a local tux shop.
he gets me tuxes for free, anytime I need it...
I drop his name any chance I get
and I DJ amy gig he needs me for
(a small yearly bridal show, his daughters wedding, his parents anniversary)
I even get him tickets to local concerts

Daughter's wedding = 2 Tuxes you could have owned.
Parent's anniversary = 2 more tuxes you could have owned
Tickets to a concert $120 to $500 = another tux or two you could have owned!

Not saying you got a bad deal just saying freebies add up faster than you think!

not really!
he tipped me for all the events
(about half of what I would have charged)
the tickets I got from work (in another trade deal)
so they didn't cost me anything
and you're not considering the cost of CLEANING the tuxes!

but most of all
I have developed a wonderful personal and professional relationship
with a guy I truly admire and repsect.
he is currently building onto his business and more than doubling his store space...adding men's clothing...adding dry cleaning...and adding a wedding shop where several wedding vendors can display their "wares"
(including one of the DJ companies I work for)

I think it evens out in the end!
 
Oh you mean you have to clean the Tux?

LOL just kidding, careful wear and storage (and not setting up/ tearing down while in the tux) generally means you will get three shows before it needs to be cleaned and pressed!
