I know the song well and love it.... but I have never heard a DJ play it at any event I attended, nor have I ever played it, but only because I have never been asked or thought to play it while at an event. I really want to see how well it works.

How well does it work for you?

Depending on the age group, it could still work. It has fallen into the same hole as "Who Let The Dogs Out", "Marcarena", etc.

Wait until the last hour or so (when they've had a few pops) and go for it.

I think its cheesy but kids love it....or aleast they did last time I played it which was a few years ago.

Played it Jan 27th at a Youth Dance...worked just fine...wound around the room and down the hall and back. I guess it works.

What about Soul Train, not to change the subject. Do you do it as well? Kids on both sides fo the tracks and then "show their stuff" down the middle?

I usually play it within the first few tunes. I make sure the bride is on the dance floor then as the whistle is starting I'll chime in "It's train time. Everybody line up behind Natalie" (bride's name changes of course). It works like gang-busters and gets the rest of the room loosened up and out of their seats.

Until about 2005ish it was working great for the college gigs and then dead. We used it by request at a reception a couple of years ago, but that's been it. We do find that around here the song gets a boost with us being so close to Purdue (it's one of the songs that the train likes to play as it's driving around).

Still works down here.

I live in the Quad City or Quad Cities. Haven't found a connection though, think they're from Cincinnati.

Sometimes it works for me.

Best,

Paul

never ever played it; never had it requested

I played it when it first came out (95-96?) a few times with little reaction and haven't played it since. I would have to look to see if I even have it MP3

I love and its a goto song that is more modern than the conga and gets the same result plus it mixes well into most top40 songs and you can end up with a full dance floor... I even encourage them to toot toot as they gather more "cars" around the room.
I've had a congo going to this:

It surprised me but they were having a blast.
