Welcome Rob. We know each other from another forum, but I'm glad you've joined us here. I've always enjoyed your posts. You were one of the "good guys" over there. I think you'll find this forum has quite a few good guys like yourself!

I'm remaining anonymous for the time being. Some of you have seen my posts on other DJ chat sites under my real name and may even have an idea of who this Jas guy is. :cool: I've always felt this need to talk about mobile DJ issues without my competitors seeing what I'm up to. Hence the reason for my anonymity. I won't be doing any trolling or flaming behind the keyboard and I have no problem giving out advice to newbies as well as asking for advice. If anyone wants to know more, send a PM.

Hello all
DJ Navy Diver (or simply Tim) here - just joined your forum and am excited to participate. As my handle implies I am retired Naval Officer who specialized in Clearance Diving (Diving was the bus we took to work) and EOD aka Bomb Disposal (which was one of the jobs we did once we got off the bus). After I got out in 2008, I went onto working on munitions clearance projects for a Crown Corporation as a Project Manager for 5 years and now working on our local navy base with the same outfit as Liaison Officer for Capital Construction Projects.
Huh? DJ (or more accurately VJ) you Say? Yes it's true - I do quite a bit of gigging on the side as a mid life crisis kinda thing and am probably busier than I like to be. Started off selling tax free audio gear and working for a military (CBC) TV station in the early eighties overseas for a number of years on a Canadian Forces after being a Hifi hobbyist for quite a while before that (My father was a Chaplain in the Air Force so we moved around quite a bit). Came back to Canada, went to school and sold hi end audio before joining the mob and the rest is history. Word got around about 6 or 7 years ago that I did weddings and parties as a side thing for friends as wedding gifts or favours to them but with a twist. My specialty is/was Music Video VJ type events and like I say I am at the point where I am turning down work because of my full time profession (for now). I see retirement on the horizon with a second pension but a guy has to stay engaged and have a working hobby to keep life interesting and also some youthful vigor. This is what I like to do but I also have an ulterior motive. Kids are growing up fast and while the 21 year old daughter is not interested in such things my 19 year old son is trying to find his way in the world (thinking Navy or Police) and has been helping me on the odd gig and sees first hand that it pays quite well and is good source for spending money. It will all go to him once he is more mature (and interested enough). I don't push but right now friends and the buds are a priority so I wait - have also kept his older cousin engaged in doing events for me (another young Naval Officer) but now he is off on a year long "cruise" with his ship...
Anyway, pleased to be here and will "see you on the bottom" as us rubber freaks usually say!

Welcome aboard the good ship ODJT. Rob (jokerswild) is our cook in the galley but don't ask him what the specials are. Dan is our 2nd in command and the monkey is our Captain (better do what he tells you to). Everyone else is a crew member and we all make one great big happy family (or try to anyways). There are a few that we wish would walk the plank.

I became well known in my circle, and bought my own setup.
When I turned 20, I moved to Ottawa and took a job as a DJ in a strip club (where I still work on weekdays). On weekends, I still like to mix it up with the odd wedding reception or corporate function.
