Then something even better happened. We started connecting beyond the job. The screen names became real names. The avatars became faces and an honest and trusted network evolved. One member in particular, Jon "Jay T Vegas" Tuck, would almost always greet and connect with new members immediately. He would exchange phone numbers with people and then give them the official one hour welcome call. The ultimate icebreaker.
An hour geeze he was just warming up at an hour LOL

He called me one night in September 2006 I remember it because a few days before that I had been to the Rolling Stones outdoor show and it had rained and it was really cold and I wound up with Laryngitis He said Hey man I know you don't have much voice so just listen I'll talk LOL Classic JTV. About 3 hours later I hung up and I think all I said was hello and goodbye LOL.

I've talked to several here on the phone but JTV was one of a kind every time.

Judging by the costumes and smiles, I'm guessing it was a pretty good party. It may have been in perfect focus for the photographer at the time......

Here ya go, Hank....
for the collection

(didn't realize until now how out-of-focus that pic was)

It was a radio station beach party...with live music from The Toga Party Band.
And I'm pretty sure that was NO professional photographer. :djsmug:
(but yes, it was a pretty good party!)

Good ol' Jon. I really miss that guy. He's a very big part of why we're so tight knit. Jon even got me on the phone a few times and I hate talking on the phone. I remember buying a Skype phone for a ridiculous amount of money (this was pre-smartphone) and a subscription for an incoming number. With the rumors of late late night phone calls and our time difference I was scared to give him my house number. :sqlaugh: His mother and I still chat from time to time.

The phone is still buried in my drawer. Wonder if it works.

CC, it's been way too long fam, this is Los Dogg from the RapMullet board! Some great memories on the Mullet! Some very good people, a lot of great music, and a lot of entertaining fights, LOL. I remember you and Gary aka "Pris" always roasting eachother. RIP Gary! Pretty amazing at some of the talent and people in the industry that were on that board including yourself, still got Eminelton and Marvin Jay on rotation. You still doing the mash ups bro? You still talk with anyone that was on the Mullet?

So i joined this forum several months ago and truly enjoy all the banter and information.... but i have slowly realized you guys all have a history here together.. ive heard you speak about chatting on a different site i think...as well as a facebook page if im not incorrect?

So i was just curious...what is the history of this forum and its predecessor?

How long has Mix been like this? lol

sidenote : I was a member of a mixtape forum called Rapmullet for several years and racked up around 60,000 posts before it ended up shutting down... we had tons of famous dj's and rap artists on there... going back and forth...fighting...etc....had some meet and greets as well...a yearly barbaque ... we had the normal characters like Mix and Proformance with similar M.O.'s .... i was a moderator for a while but hated it and quit... everyone wanted ya to pick sides and throw people off...and im not a cop...im a dj... lol.....anyway...i say all that to say i understand forum dynamics

Whats up man!!! Small world!! Did Gary die??? i checked out his blog not too long ago and noticed it hadnt been updated in years... so i wondered!

I havent made a mash up tape since 2009...did that "Outmash" tape with Dub Floyd...walked away from djing and opened up a puppet theater for kids...lol... had that for a few years then got remarried... Started telling her stories of the old days of djing...and then we decided to start doing mobile dj stuff ever since...i got a couple offers to get back in clubs but i turned them down...i just feel too old for it...lol

I spoke with Chew a few years back...just to check in...and someone with the Rapmullet name followed me on mixcloud a couple months back...its gotta be Chew...he's posting all the classics.

So what have you been up to?

CC,

Yeah brother, Gary passed away I think in 2015...We followed eachother on FB and his mom had posted using his account saying that he passed. Guess he had a bad heart and they found him unresponsive. Really good dude, known him since the DJ Vlad forum days. Well, I managed your "buddy" 🤣🤣 DJ Vlad up until 2009 right after the Rick Ross incident. Long story there (Should be another post, LOL) After that, I put together some DVD's with interviews called "Street Certified DVD". We actually broke the Rick Ross C.O. thing. Managed a couple artist out West and did some work in the business for a few years. Got married had my son, wife wasn't diggin' the time I was taking away and travelling and I did miss my son, so unfortunately back in 2014 I called it quits myself. I was pretty blessed to work with some pretty huge names in hip hop and have friends in the business to this day. I moved from California to Arizona last year where I run a medical equipment business, but I still "dabble" in the music once in a while. It's a damn shame what they've done to our hip hop isn't it? It is really sad...Pisses me off actually. I do miss the Mullet though...some great memories and people there! Makav3lli, Chuck-T, DJ Smallz, Chew, Dimez, Miami Kaos, Pris, Wiz.......even the rappers that used to post their music on there that blew up! Wish they had the old Mullet forum stored on the net somewhere, just so I could see all the old posts, LOL! Peep the pics brother!

If that forum was stored on a datebase...id read it cover to cover...lololol... never a dull moment.... i was there when Chew brought it back for a few months...but it fizzled out quick...social media kinda took over and nobody wanted to sit around on a forum anymore...

lol...forgot all about that Vlad beef....funny stuff... i was ruthless back then....lololol

Nice, lookin' good too bro! Hey man, you always had a gift with dj'ing and the mash ups and blends. Good to see that you're still doing what you love. I think your tapes are legendary dude. I'm actually putting together a little "best of blends and mash ups" project at the moment and would love to feature a couple of your tracks on it. Out here in AZ, there is a HUGE following of old school hip hop and I would like to bring the mashup/blend game back so people could see what we worked with back in the day! I agree with you on the social media thing, the forums just fizzled out after that. I actually recently deactivated my FB and Instagram. It's just too much with these youngsters now, LOL. Think i'm just getting older! Do you know of or follow anyone that does any good mashups/blends?

When i stepped away from the mash up stuff i just cut all ties and really lost touch with anyone doing it...i wonder if Dub is still at it? he really had a gift for it too...

Feel free to use anything of mine that you can salvage from old tapes...i lost a hard drive that had all my masters...so i have nothing except some raw copies i salvaged from sites on the net... i loaded what i had to mixcloud...

Thanks brother, I appreciate it man and will let you know when the project comes out. You should really consider "playing" around with it again Chris. I know the genre is far gone, but you had a great knack for it dude. Love hearing your projects to this day and always thought you were very talented at whay you did. Check out DJ Cummerbund on YouTube. He's got some pretty crazy shit on that channel. Like WTF was this dude thinking??
