Then something even better happened. We started connecting beyond the job. The screen names became real names. The avatars became faces and an honest and trusted network evolved. One member in particular, Jon "Jay T Vegas" Tuck, would almost always greet and connect with new members immediately. He would exchange phone numbers with people and then give them the official one hour welcome call. The ultimate icebreaker.
An hour geeze he was just warming up at an hour LOL

He called me one night in September 2006 I remember it because a few days before that I had been to the Rolling Stones outdoor show and it had rained and it was really cold and I wound up with Laryngitis He said Hey man I know you don't have much voice so just listen I'll talk LOL Classic JTV. About 3 hours later I hung up and I think all I said was hello and goodbye LOL.

I've talked to several here on the phone but JTV was one of a kind every time.

Judging by the costumes and smiles, I'm guessing it was a pretty good party. It may have been in perfect focus for the photographer at the time......

Here ya go, Hank....
for the collection

(didn't realize until now how out-of-focus that pic was)

It was a radio station beach party...with live music from The Toga Party Band.
And I'm pretty sure that was NO professional photographer. :djsmug:
(but yes, it was a pretty good party!)

Good ol' Jon. I really miss that guy. He's a very big part of why we're so tight knit. Jon even got me on the phone a few times and I hate talking on the phone. I remember buying a Skype phone for a ridiculous amount of money (this was pre-smartphone) and a subscription for an incoming number. With the rumors of late late night phone calls and our time difference I was scared to give him my house number. :sqlaugh: His mother and I still chat from time to time.

The phone is still buried in my drawer. Wonder if it works.
