Target resolution for web design.

Gang -

I have mine fixed at 700x600 px.

Now via Extreme Tracking, I know what visitors target my site.

It is not flash based. So, below are the results of several weeks of info.

What would you think I should target (assuming IE being 1st and FF coming in 2nd)?

1280x1024 129 38.17%
1024x768 70 20.71%
800x600 39 11.54%
1680x1050 27 7.99%
Other 26 7.69%
1440x900 26 7.69%
1152x864 8 2.37%
1920x1200 4 1.18%

I've been targeting 1024 for years now (height doesn't matter) -- seems to work well :)

Most of the netbooks (which are selling like hotcakes), have a 1024 width -- so it seems almost natural, since most folks seem to maximize their browser window...
 
I like it Ed. It will get lost in the larger resolutions. The average screen used to be 1024, but I'd say the average is now 1280. I keep mine within 800 just to be safe. I don't like scrolling or paragraphs that don't stay the way I wrote them.

PS: Lose all that keyword hooey at the bottom of your home page. It's not necessary.
 
According to the W3C (Basically the overlords who publish the guidelines on website usability) ... Users should now design webpages based upon the 1024x768 px design. 800x600 used to be the standard but is now depreciated.

For my web-company all of our websites are almost always 1024x768 it just makes sense to follow the gurus. They have numbers and statistics to backup their judgment.
